7AT woes and ITB10-075
I need some advice regarding the ITB10-075 service bulletin; After reading the bulletin, it is clear applying updates requires the reprogramming of both the tcm and the ecu, I have a 2011 Journey sedan, so I know it does not have the update noted in the service bulletin. It is also tuned, and my mechanic informed me getting the update done will remove the tune, and that the update process is pointless as the tune adjusts shift points, the limiter, etc. and should have remedied the problems Infiniti addressed with ITB10-075. Can anyone confirm this?
The car is on its 2nd transmission currently, and even with the tune (Applied prior to the 1st trans going out), I have not noticed any improvement in transmission performance. At this point, the jerky downshifts, especially when coming to a stop in DS, hunting for gears, random rev flares when shifting, and all the other issues associated with the 7AT are driving me nuts, and I'm trying to determine if getting the ITB10-075 update, knowing it will remove the tune, would be better in the long run.
From what I understand, once the update is applied, the tune cannot then be flashed back to the ecu as that would remove the update, but having extra hp and a transmission that acts up when I'm trying to use said extra hp seems like a pointless combination. Any help is appreciated.

Though it will remove the update on the ECM, the one on the TCM should stay.
Get with your tuner and see if he can pull the ROM and license from your ECM prior to the TSB.
From what I understand this is a package update that affects both ECM and TCM. If I'm not mistaken the steps to get this done properly are to do the Update on both and then flash the ECM to Uprev/Ecutek.

The reprogram is Nissan property. Most of the software changes for our cars are aftermarket which is why in the engine side you're able to command the ECM but since there's a small market for the 7at there just isnt enough demand. I'm sure in the future we will find the right person that figures out what's the main reason why they start giving issues. Many including myself have plenty of theories but most of these help some but dont help everyone. Tuning and changing line pressure + tuning the engine specifically during the ranges where the transmission would shift into the next gear is the closest it's ever going to get.
