Complex Question about AV Radio Control Modules
Sorry again. I just looked at a video. The donor vehicle has a different more modern touch screen, which has Am/FM directly on it, and some other functions which on mine are below the screen. Also different number of speakers. I assume there things would be controlled with either configuration or possible it used the empty white receptacle when wired for my Q70. At this point, I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth trying to reconfigure or just give up and mail it out for repair. For $1300 Infiniti will refurbish or used replacement, some places on West Coast can try to repair. So skip dealer reconfiguration or not? Appreciate all the time and thought here on Super Bowl Sunday.
Then it may very well be a configuration issue. There is a vast difference between sedan and wagon.
This also explains the TCU code. The "TCU" error your mechanic found is likely the "Telematics Control Unit" throwing the error- which could have everything to do with your sound issue.
Unfortunately, there are no factory manuals available for the newer Q70's and QX80's as yet so I can not confirm is the wiring is even the same but I am leaning toward either a configuration issue or a issue with the hardware (AV unit).

Personally, I couldn't give a rats a** about football or this Super Bowl nonsense.... I know I am a minority in that, just not my thing. I'll be damn glad when its over. To anyone else reading this, spare me the flaming...
If it were me, I would return the QX80 unit as it definitely will not work in your Q70. Complete hardware change for 2018+. The dealer will not be able to help here. You have a hardware conflict, not a software conflict.
I just searched eBay and there are a ton of AV headunits for ≈$100-150 specifically for the Q70. Just search "Q70 25915." I would try one of those first and see if that resolves your issue.

Match YOUR car, NOT the part number!!!
It will take time to search, but most listings will provide "DONOR INFO" which is what you need to check. If it is from a Q70 with Bose, it will fit your Q70 with Bose.

OK. So I found one that looks great but says only for the 5.6L V8, and my 3.7L isn’t listed. It’s got 10 speakers also. Can’t imagine much different? I will take your advice and try it. At this point, with $1100 down and looking at minimum $1200 more, might as well try $150.
or will my VIN automatically not bring up the right menu or settings. Sorry, know nothing about that. Again. Thanks.
I think you will be fine in that instance as I doubt the engine will matter. The unit will already be configured and should be plug-and-play.
The speakers get their signal from the amp so that shouldn't matter either. All the headunit does is send the audio signals to the amp.

Amazing dealership day. Waited for 3 hours. Then mechanic and service person told me they had tried programming many times and module would not take it. They had given up, blamed module. I kept telling him about the SERVICE BULLETIN, and need to skip steps if couldn’t get preexisting codes from the original module. Anyway after arguing for 10 minutes miraculously he actually let me go back with him and watch on the consult computer device. I personally went thru step by step from the bulletin I had and after 2nd try it started downloading. After more playing around the SOUND CAME BACK ON. PERFECTLY. The only thing that never came back was the steering wheel audio controls. Only half work. I can live with that. Doesn’t appear to be a program issue. Anyway. I’m euphoric. Saved a fortune and I can live without some of the radio steering wheel controls. I’ll think about them again later. But having sound back is amazing. Really appreciate this forum help. Gary
For clarity, this was the QX80 unit that they finally got to work, or....? And to what "service bulletin" are you referring to?
If it is the QX80 unit, the steering wheel controls will never work correctly- altogether different signal values.
Either way, thanks for the update. Now you can hit the highway and jam out...

Reviving the thread
Hi,
I started another thread with similar issues.
My unit, labeled jj52c had the cd player/bluetooth crap out, produced sound with am/fm.
Bought used unit from 2011 with navigation, Bose and 6 cd changer, labeled 1ja2c. Plugged everything in and it all worked (Bluetooth, cd, amfm) and no codes from self diagnosis BUT had no sound, so I’m assuming that it is a programming/file thing?
I found some on Ebay with the same code as mine, but the sellers can’t tell me the car they came from.
