No. With comp I still have coverage if I hit a deer or something happens and a baseball takes out a window I still have coverage.

Liability only covers if you hit someone/something else. Full coverage was still an option.

Well, I may have to go back to State Farm. I'm with zenith insurance, and I don't like them that much.
They have poor customer service, and to get a hold of them was brutal.
So I decided to take the cash, repair the doors, and get a Q50 when they lower their prices in canada haha.

I have a quick question for those who know more.

I have read that, if you're not happy with their offer you have the right to challenge it. Do you guys think I can contest the price and get more and according to carfax"The average CARFAX History Based Value of a 2009 Infiniti G37 not even the xs is $12,165 U.S $16, 347.50 CDN). The History Based Value of a car takes into account the vehicle’s condition, number of owners, service history, and other factors. Many cars for sale on CARFAX Used Car Listings are great value cars, with a value that’s higher than the listing price." instead of getting $10 000 maybe I can get 12 000?
Do you guys thinks its a risky move? or am I too greedy?
Hope to get your $0.02.

If you already took the cash then you agreed to the offer. If you haven't, then you should be able to contest. I had a similar issue on my Lancer. The initial valuation was off because they assumed way higher mileage, base model (vs GTS) and automatic (vs 5 speed).

When I showed them the only cars that matched mine in the whole US they quickly increased their offer.

So, your title is "rebuilt", not totaled?

It's illegal to drive a salvage car. Once the car is considered totaled you have to send for a salvage title. You then can do the repairs, have the advanced inspection, and then get an R title.

After seeing your initial esponse I can see where the confusion happened. Totaled isn't a classification on a title. Once a car is "totaled" it is given a salvage title designation. You can repair it and get a rebuilt title. With rebuilt you can still carry full coverage if you wish, so yes a car that was totaled can get full coverage/comp.

So Canada and the U.S have the same guidelines "You can repair it and get a rebuilt title. With rebuilt you can still carry full coverage if you wish, so yes a car that was totaled can get full coverage/comp." except for motorbike, thats a No no they will never put it on the road for you.

I didn't take the cash yet, I was talking to a friend who is a lawyer and he suggested to try to get more money. He also told me to request the estimate for the repair by the appraiser. He also said that I was attach to my G lmao.
Like you said also most of the g37 that I was looking at were X models none were XS models and some had more mileage than mine.

I find it crazy, how some of the 2009 coupe are still selling for $18 000 to $20 000 CDN ( $13403.16 to $14892.40 U.S).
There's something about that 2014 Q50 AWD Premium

I requested, the appraiser estimate for the cost of the repair and they gave me the Vehicle Valuation Report. At this point I will be shopping for a new insurance company. I may have to go back to state farm lol.

Something similar happened to me recently with my daughter's 2010 Prius (we bought from her grandma with only 55K garage kept miles, a creampuff). She was looking for a parking spot at school and someone decided to back out and drag their bumper down the side of the car; not a big deal right as the car was still drivable. They were at fault and assumed responsibility, so I thought there would be no issues with the repair. I took it to my local body shop that I had used in the past and they told me that the repairs would cost over 7K because their labor rate is above the standard and they only use brand new parts from the OEM. As such, the responsible insurance company would likely total it because the 7K in repairs exceeded 60% of the marketable value. The car was nearly perfect (see pic below) otherwise, so I had to start thinking about paying out of pocket, taking the cash payout, life with a salvage title, contesting the value based on condition, etc. My daughter was also upset because she loved the nostalgia behind the car and didn't want to replace with another.

My shop then recommended that I take it to another shop "partnered" (my shop did an eyeroll when suggesting) with the paying insurance company, so I called up one the shops recommended by the responsible insurance company that also appeared to have good reviews on Yelp. Long story short, the car looks brand new, their customer service was excellent, and they charged half of what my local favorite shop would have charged! My advice is to shop around as pricing varies wildly in that industry, Note that the owner of one shop said his best guy makes 200K a year with full benefits as there are few people left in CA with this skillset; he said all the kids nowadays want to program Python :-).

And so what, my 2010 Prius is now sporting a used fender and some bondo on the door. I guess I will never be able to sell it at a Mecum car auction.

^^Congrats! Hard to tell any damage was done, at least in that pic. Good info to keep in mind.

Someone on the stinger forum did this to their car.

That area looks tough to repair. Lucky with my daughter there was minimal damage to the quarter panel. Once you bash a quarte panel, the cost likely doubles as it's not as straight forward to replace/paint compared to a door/fender (purchase a skin, welding, no clean boundary for painting, etc.).

Oh wow, I can't even tell it was damage. That's a job well done.
My friend told me about bondo also but he said it may rust after a while is that true?
My insurance told me that I was suppose to receive $7,134.27 CDN. They sent me the paper work stating that I was receiving $6,634.27. I send an email back about it and this week they sent me the new paperwork stating that I was receiving the full amount and they send the cheque this morning of $7,134.27 by regular mail, who does that? haha.
I thought they would of sent it by express post or something that would requires a signature? FML.
