Best car ever

I have been here since I got my 2009 G37. This forum has been invaluable in terms of upgrades and repairs. Whether I ended up fixing things myself or have a good idea how to direct a shop what to fix. I have owned Toyota's, MB, Honda, GM, and BMW. I have to say Infiniti was the only car that lasted as long as it did 247,xxx-ish miles before I decided to trade it in. The engine was still strong, its just the tranny was starting to slip, starter went out so I fixed it but then power steering went out, cluster gauge was slowly fading. The gauges didnt matter that much I memorized what they were and where they should point at this stage lol. I was hoping to take it over 250,000 miles but I dont know if it would have made it without putting more money in parts and effort than it was worth.
I didnt go with a Q because they just arent the same as the G. I am slightly sad where Infiniti as a company has gone they had something that was better than a BMW and at this point I feel they have fallen way behind. Anyway I will be signing off soon and good luck G owners you have a real fun workhorse of a car!

Interesting how the very limited success of the Q is slowly assisting the transition of the VQVHR into Japanese performance RWD icon status.

Seems that Infiniti lost the formula for what pulled them out of bankruptcy the first time. The Nissan-Plus direction feels like a polite way to kill off the brand.

I also have an '09 G37xS sedan. It's been a great all-season car here in Colorado, and while my wife worked in Omaha for several years. Mileage isn't as high as yours, but it's good to know your G almost made it to 250K! I agree with your comments on where the evolution of the G37 had taken it against high-end competition from BMW and the like. The Q50 isn't a bad car, just not as far ahead of the competition as the G had gotten to. Good luck with your next car, but it's going to be tough to match the style, performance and pure durability and affordability of this sedan!

I've always thought of my car as a Nissan. A nice one, sure, but a Nissan nonetheless.

The Q50 is fine car, but it's looks are somewhat bland, and the interior is a mess. And the 2nd gen Q60 just looks wrong.

I suppose Infiniti is dead to me.

The Q60 is already dead (discontinued). The Q50 is on life support through 2024 at which point it likely won't survive another reiteration. Infiniti seems hell bent on putting all of their eggs into the SUV and crossover models. If it has more than 2 doors, I am not interested. Period.

Count me out.

Infiniti as a brand is dying.

Anyone watch that Netflix special on Carlos Ghosn?

To me that doc made it pretty clear that Nissan has been a mess organizationally for quite a while, at least back to the mid-2000s. And with that, a lack of direction and vision for their products. Anyone remember that Johan de Nysschen guy? Basically ran roughshod on the Infiniti lineup then swiftly dipped.

At this point, if I had to buy a new car, it’d either be a Subaru, Cadillac or BMW
