Header and test pipe install

I helped my son install headers and test pipes on his 2011 rwd sedan. When we went for test drive traction control light came on and air bag light flashing. Pulled codes B1149 and B1154 which looks like clockspring issue. No horn , cruise or stereo controls. The other traction control light looks like when we took the steering coupler off we didnt clock it correctly when we put it back.is it possible when we took the steering coupler off we damaged the clockspring?

I take it precautions weren't made to secure the steering wheel before you disconnected the coupler? It is very likely that the ribbon cable inside the clockspring snapped. When you disconnected the steering coupler, either the actual steering wheel was allowed to "free spin" or the shaft was improperly clocked when reconnected and snapped the cable at the first turn. There is VERY little slack in the ribbon cable and it doesn't take much force to snap it.

Either way, there are plenty of used clockspring units on eBay. Relatively easy to swap out- should take about 1-hr. and you'll need a T30 (torx) bit to remove the airbag module. Of course, battery must be disconnected for at least 15min. before beginning work.

Just ensure the replacement is properly centered before installation!
