G37 sedan test pipe questions

Hi everyone ! So I have a question and need help ! Or someone point me in the right direction! So I want to get some Test pipes for my 2008 g35 sedan. But I don’t know if the Test pipes for the g37 sedan will fit the vq35hr ! They look similar in body wise but one has 3.5 and other is 3.7. If someone can let me know thanks !

let me know if you get the crazy engine light notification regarding those test pipe, I have installed some test pipe on mine and I have the crazy engine light on, I heard you need to install the O2 Sensor Defouler Extender Spacer Bung M18X1.5.

Had my TPs on for over 3 years, been CEL free until I hit 100k miles then got the downstream O2 CEL code P0138. My TPs use the best Fast Intentions reverse flow O2 port for keeping CELs away, so possibly cleaning up the sensors will keep them off for another 3 yrs

Ya I didn't know about the defouler when I brought it to the garage to have them installed but now I was able to installed 1 on the passenger side but on the driver side it seems that the TP is sitting a little to high and there's a screw that prevent me from installing it. I tried to push it down all sort of thing to screw the defouler but no go, so I may bring it to the garage and have them installed it for me cuz they have to remove the TP and at the same time have them fix the heat shield, it fell off.

I have a serious question regarding the Test pipe, I have one on my car, it is very similar to the one in the picture. When I drive or when I am at a stop all I can smell is the exhaust,
I wanted to know if you guys seriously smell the exhaust too?? I spoke to a friend and he said its because they do not have the catalytic converter?

That's normal for a test pipe.

Can confirm. I have the same smell coming from mine; it's been a couple thousand miles since install.

The VQ35HR is externally the same as the 37VHR. Except for there being no transmission fluid dipstick on the 37 (ask me how I know.. so much easier to do a tranny fluid change on the 35).

I imagine it's seeping out of the flex pipe section of the Y-pipe. Nothing you can really do bout it but maybe wrap it.

And now you know how EVERY car used to smell, though not actually. EFI expects a catalytic convertor in the exhaust and meters fuel accordingly (excess). In the bad old days of carburetation, cars tended to run closer to stoichiometric A/F ratio except at full throttle. There was definitely an exhaust smell but it was a bit different odor and not as strong. I hate sitting behind a test-piped car at a light. It positively stinks.
