I've having issues with the instrument cluster on my 2010 G37 Sedan. 101k miles.
About every other day, the fuel gauge will not register and the needle will be completely below the "E".
About a day or so, the RPM gauge did the same, not registering.
Yesterday, the speedometer wasn't working, but eventually did a few miles down the road.
Today, neither the RPM/Speedometer worked until I was a few miles down the road.
So, the only gauge that consistently works in the small rectangular LED display that shows the outside temp.
The Infiniti dealer wants to charge me about $140 for a diagnostic check, which can be applied to any repairs.
I've talked to my mechanic and he indicated he could have a guy troubleshoot it and repair could be upwards of $600.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I'd start with removing the cluster, cleaning the contacts of all plugs, and re-connecting. Your symptoms sound like an intermittent wire connection (but could be a bad cluster).
Waiting for @ILM-NC G37S to show up, he probably knows if you could just swap in a cluster from another car or if it's a VIN-paired item.
The issue could be the meter itself, the Unified Meter/AC Amplifier, or related wiring. The OP can try the following:
1) Run the Meter self-diagnostic:
While this will, technically, only check the step motors (the gauges), it will be a starting point.
2) With a good scan tool check to see if there are any pending codes- specifically a U1000 or B22xx code(s).
To answer @rotarymike , the clusters are not VIN-programmed to any car and any suitable replacement will drop in just fine. HOWEVER, the only potential issue is that odometer information is stored SOLELY in the cluster, therefore, any replacement cluster will show a different reading. This may present some legal issues should the car ever be sold, traded, etc.

HELLO ,
I am experiencing similar problem with the exception that i do have the U1000 code.My dash is completely dead no reading of Gas mileage or Engine temp aswell as MPH/Revs.Can you explain the Importance or meaning behind that U1000 code and what I should do ? (FYI my infiniti got stolen and came back like this )

U1000 basically means that the network connection between the car and the cluster is "down:"
This could be the result of a few things:
- dead cluster
- dead Unified Meter Amp
- wiring issue
- power/ ground faults
Did you try the self-diagnostic function mentioned above? Does the cluster light up? Does the SECURITY light flash every 1.5sec.?
In most cases it is the amp that kicks the bucket. Complete cluster failures are rare but have happened. However, without proper testing there is no way to pinpoint and I am against the common practice of "throwing parts at a problem hoping to get lucky."
I am sorry to hear your car was stolen- what condition was it in when it was recovered? Any components removed, parts vandalised, other obvious damage?
