Water Pump advice for a 2009 G37 Sedan 6MT
Hello, my fellow G37 owners,
I am in need of some advice and assistance. I own a 09 G37 Sedan 6MT (Love saying 6MT) with about 234500 miles. I have discovered my water pump has been leaking coolant for roughly about a month or so. I have taken to two shops and they both indicated that waterpump is leaking. The car is running without any other issues and has not overheated as of yet and hopefully, it doesn't overheat at all. I have check oil multiple times and it seems that coolant isn't seeping into the oil thank god.
Now shops have quoted me roughly around 1000$ for water pump replacement only and around 1750$ for the water pump and all the timing chain and its components. Also, I can source an engine with only 33K miles from a 2014 Q60 RWD for roughly around 1300$ and I am not sure how much it would cost me to replace the engine altogether.
My thought process is leaning towards a replacement engine as it is from 2014 which is one of the last years for VQ37 in G and most of the kinks are sorted, also it has low miles so the engine is much healthier than what I have under the hood currently. But I lack the knowledge of whether that engine will just drop in and plug and play with the existing setup and harness or not.
I would like to ask the community to weigh in and provide feedback, comments, suggestions, and any other insight you might be able to provide. All your help will be much appreciated and will help keep a beautiful car alive hopefully for many years to come.
