RWD model sway bar on AWD?

Hey g37 commmunity! Recent 2013 G37x owner here. Been lurking this forum since ownership . Looking to finally start on some mods and upgrades.

The first mod I'm looking to get is the Hotchkis rear sway bar (22441R). The front and rear kit (22443) is roughly like 600$ shipped to Canada...whereas the rear bar would be around 350$. So, I'm looking to get the rear sway bar only. Will the rear sway bar only 22441R fit the AWD G37x sedan model? The part seems to be compatible on some websites but on others they recommend the front and the rear kit for the AWD...

Thanks in advance!

Could do a RWD G37 or Z rear sway bar conversion for 1/3 the price of even the rear sway bar only.

Contacted hotchkis for feedback on this. 60-80$ from where? It's impossible to find it under 250 plus shipping to Canada.

eBay my friend. Or, you can look at the FB market place. While I despise SM, there's tons of deals to be had there.

The issue is the Canadian market is a fraction of the size of the American market. I've been looking on and off for months for the same thing for my x and haven't found one yet.

Exactly. Plus shipping/duty fee kills any deals haha. However, I was able to find the hotchkis rear sway bar from a 370z owner parting it out for FREE!.. got extremely lucky I would say. Now I just need new bushings before I start the install.

I wish you luck on your search!

OP,

In my experience with aftermarket sways it really is best to buy in pairs. In this case however I think you will be ok since a main weakness is the X is the small 18MM rear factory sway. The Hotchkis rear is alot better then anything stock. Its 28MM. I can't speak for the stock RWD S bar but I am guessing its probably 20MM or in that range plus or minus. The front goes up to a 35MM from what I am guessing a 30 or so stock bar(just guessing from eyeballing it)to a 35MM. I can say the set mixed in with a Cusco front strut tower brace is a great upgrade coming from someone who has done it.

Rear is thicker than you think for RWD Models:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/brakes-...r-upgrade.html

Personally, bumping up 3.7mm in the front and .3mm in the rear isn't worth $600 for the full set; or $350+ for just the rear...

RWD sway bar is the best way to go if you can find one. It might be scarce given the market; but I'd rather hunt through a junk yard and wait a few months for one to pop up while using that cash towards coilovers.

@RMB5190,

Please remember the OP has an X so the factory rear sway is 18MM not the bigger bar that is on the S(I believe its a 26 or 28 MM) The Hotchkis is well worth the money for an X. However the S rear bar will do the trick especially if someone can get it for dirt cheap. I can't even count the number of stock sways I have in my garage at this point from tinkering around with STI's and Legacys for years.

Understood, that's why my recommendation is to wait for a RWD rear sway bar to become available (g37 or 370Z); even if it takes some time. The rear sway bar is a fantastic upgrade for the X but not worth $600+ for the set; or even $350+ for the rear only - that's my opinion. That could go towards the cost of coilovers if you really want to improve the handling.

I am still seeing the pricing right around what I payed for the set a few years back at $430. Some places I am sure are a bit cheaper. $600 would be getting ripped off price.

$430 for both would be reasonable; I agree. The OP being in Canada is what's making the price seem steep.

I just purchased a Nismo 370z rear sway bar, bushings, and endlinks for my G37xS to pair with the coilovers. It's around an inch and 3.5mm material thickness. Costs $100 or less used.
