Rear Sway Bar Upgrade

Yesterday I installed the rear OEM G37S coupe sway bar...swapping out my "pathetic" one which is only 17.7mm compared to 24.2mm.
I was considering going with Hotchkis sways, but considering the cost & slight difference...I went for the best bang for "my" buck.

I purchased the both front & rear sways from member on site, which also included both bushings & brackets for $80 shipped.
I had the install done at Royal Wheel & Tire in Arlington, MA. a local shop for $40.
It took roughly 45min for the install from start to finish.

I only installed just the rear since the front sway isn't compatible with my G37xS due to the unique bending...the AWD front sway is already thicker at 31.7mm compared to 26.7mm for the RWD.
Hotchkis sways are 35mm for the front and 27mm rear.

The car feels tighter in corners...a lot more planted.
The stock understeer is gone...I thought the larger rear sway bar might have added oversteer, but it didn't.
Handling was very neutral and felt more stable.
Steering is also improved...less lag and more responsive.
I can feel the ride is a little harsher on road irregularities, such as small potholes, uneven pavement and slight bumps.

My wife did noticed the "difference" in the way the G drove, but didn't find the ride to being any harsher...which is a good thing!

This is definitely worth the $120 spent.
Anyone with a G37x sedan who's on a budget should highly consider this upgrade compared to Hotchkis.

another boston G heyyy

did you lower your car? mine is lowered and the only reason i haven't done the

sways is all the feed back that the ride does get harsher. i am lowered 1.3 in

the front and 1.0 in the rear to lose the big gaps.

Not too far away from you in NH; thinking about getting sways also. Been looking at Eibachs but a lower price is definitely tasty! So, by reading this, it looks like ONLY the Rear sway from the Coupe G37S will fit my '10 X sedan?

Good move, Dragion.

$80, eh? I was wondering what would be a good price-point for my OEM Sport sways after upgrading. Thanks for the tip.

As for stiffness, I like how Hotchkis put statistics on their webpage for the standard sways vs. the sport sways vs. their aftermarket sways. Here's the link:

No, I have not lowered my G37xS.
We have actually discussed this on another thread...since the sway bar upgrade, I'm not sure if I will or not.

Yes, only the rear sway bar from any G37 RWD will fit the AWD...the front is bent differently and only aftermarket sways made specifically for the AWD will fit both front & rear.

No problem.
Thanks for adding the link...wish they would also include the stats for the AWD!
I would like to know the difference.

Here is a pic of the stock sway installed as it comes from the factory...
I will take one with the G37S sway maybe on Friday when I install my OSRAM XENARC 66240 CBI 5000K HID Bulbs.

Hey John, might be interested in your S sways if you go Hotchkiss. Keep me in mind if you want to unload yours.

I'd bet good money that you're going to upgrade sways before I do, but I won't forget your request, Newt, in case it's the other way around.

They are the same.
The only one that is different is the AWD rear sway.

I believe the more accurate differentiation is Sport Package w/RWD vs. everything else.

I thought to believe that all RWD G37's...coupe or sedan has the same rear sway bar?

I thought that only the AWD sedan has the thinner rear sway, due to produce more understeer to help in cold climate weather.

Am I wrong?

You saying the AWD has a different set of OEM sways than the non-sport RWD?

Could be. I'd kind of like to know the definitive answer to that, for no reason other than I like knowing miscellaneous info about my car. I used to know this about the 5th Gen Maxima. There was no RSB (because live axle), but the FSB was 22mm, whereas the SE model had a 23mm bar. Only 1mm difference, but it was noticeable nonetheless.

It would be cool if someone could post the answers on Front and Rear Sway Bar thickness for the G, all models.
NN mm, G-Sedan RWD non-sport
NN mm, G-Sedan RWD sport package
NN mm, G-Sedan AWD
And same for the Coupe, if different.

Yes...the AWD G sedan's sway bars are different from all other models.

31.7mm Front
17.7mm Rear

I think there is a difference between the Sport and non-Sport sedan and the coupes...don't quote me.
I would think that the Sport "should" have stiffer sways, but I'm 100% positive that the rears are all the same... not so sure with the fronts.

26.7mm Front
24.2mm Rear

So as a result of swapping my rear sway, I now have:

31.7mm Front
24.2mm Rear
