G37x power steering

Hello good morning,
I recently took my g37 to get the steering pump replaced from local shop. Once I take the car out the shop and drive it for like 3-4 hours fluid started gushing out. The steering fluid compartment was completely empty. I started to pour a little fluid and saw a leak near a hex bolt. Can anyone help me understand this? If my mechanic replaced my pump why did my car leak all the fluid out? I paid 600 to get that pump replaced and not only that I expected the mechanic to inform me about that bolt and it looks like a rubber part is broken for that hex nug. Here is a video of the leak. Please help my baby!

Yeah, back to the shop to get fixed free of charge. Looks like the mechanic screwed up on that.

let’s hope they give me free service I just brought it back now he is saying it’s the pressure switch problem but what I don’t understand is why wasn’t this a problem before he checked the car. My car almost caught fire had to stop and check Wtf was going on. Thanks for the feedback

Kind of tough to tell from the picture, but I replaced the high pressure power steering line on my brother's 2006 Nissan Quest (nightmare of a job, btw, and after spending half a day battling it I found out why shops were quoting $400+ in labor for that job! Granted, I did the job with the vehicle on jack stands, but still...). There was a pressure switch that threaded into the high pressure line. If he's saying the leak was from there, he may have simply failed to tighten it enough. The sensor for the quest also had a rubber O-ring on it at the point where it threads in. If our cars have a similar setup, perhaps he didn't replace that o-ring prior to reinstalling the switch. Also, there are two copper washers that go on each side of the banjo bolt. I'd imagine if one or both of these fell off while reinstalling the line, there'd be a pretty nasty leak from that point as well.

Best of luck, and keep us posted.

(Update)

so my local mechanic placed a new pressure switch. Last one was cracked from adding new pump,
but now I have another issue that appeared last night. After geting a new pump and pressure switch coming out of my parking I heard a weird noise when I noticed power steering fluid leaking every where. Boom brand new pump is now leaking from the top which is insane I don’t understand if there is pressure issues but it seems like there is. Or my theory is my mechanic wants to keep me going back. It’s insane 625 bucks in total to fix the issue and it still persist. I don’t know what to do anymore, might sell the car idk

I hope you paid by credit card?
What I think you should do is take your vehicle to your local Infiniti dealer and have them put in writing what that so called mechanic did wrong.
Call your credit card customer service and request a charge back for the inferior work/parts used and let the dealer do a proper repair.
just my $.02
good luck

I paid cash and I will call them today. I’m concerned I’m having pressure issues, or my local mechanic is doing a ****ty job. Problem number 1# is I should of went to someone experienced fml. Appreciate the feedback. Here I post a picture of my steering pump top part, You can see a huge crack. This pump is brand new and I will make them switch it and that is my last resort before she goes to a infinti dealer.

she has 110k miles

From the crappy pictures it's difficult to tell where it's coming from and that last picture you is difficult to tell if that is actually a crack or casting defect.

Being that is new it's possibly not leaking from the case
It could be the stubborn washers that he re used and are not good anymore.

Or it could be that buddy hit the banjo bolt with 5 ugga duggas from power tool

Either way better pictures will help you in the future.

hello mate I apologize I couldn’t get a picture up to your standards 😢 but here are a few more pictures with a better understanding of the crack which I think looks much clearer.
