Cold start engine knock after replacing a Variable Timing Solenoid

Hey guys,
Have any of you seen this issue before?
Had a variable timing solenoid go bad on me. (Tried the basics like changing the oil and cleaning he part. But the car would continue to go into limp mode.)
Found a cheap replacement (from carparts.com). Replaced the part, pulled the battery and no more limp mode.
Car seems fine, runs great again.
But now when I cold start the car and start to go down the road, the very first time the engine starts to rev over 3000 rpm, I get a bad engine knock. The knocking will continue if I keep the engine revving at about were the knock starts, but as soon as I let off the gas or give it gas, the knock will go away and doesn't come back till the next time I cold start the car. And it's not a little knock, it's considerably loud.

I even put the bad solenoid back in and the engine doesn't knock... Of coarse it go's into limp mode if I rev too high, but at the point were the knock normally starts with the new solenoid, it runs just fine.

Are there known junk sensors out there? Maybe I was unlucky enough to get out of spec? Or is there something else I should be concerned about?

Get an oem sensor. Aftermarket ones are junk most times.

First rule is, don't cheap out with these cars. Get the right OEM parts. Aftermarket solenoids and sensors are junk, you're just throwing money away that you could have spent on an OEM piece that would work.
