So far car hasn’t overheated since we changed the cap. Keeping fingers crossed.

Sorry to bring back this thread. How has it held up. I’m having a similar issue and I’m really not wanting it to be the head gasket.

Ended up replacing the motor. It was internal. I wrecked the engine driving off the highway hot and it would overheat a few weeks after doing a coolant flush.

I ended up getting a QX50 motor with 20k for under $1,000.
