2010 X Springs and mods and wheels

Hey guys,

I am the proud new owner of a 2010 G37x sedan. Just picked er up with 77k kms or around 47k miles on it. Now, im starting to mod it, slowly but surely, and my mod list is as follows so far:

HKS hipower exhaust (on its way)
Yellow fog light bulbs
Painting headlight bezels satin black
Midnight grille (if i can get one)
upgrading to 18 inch wheels and tires
Blacked out tail lights (and badges eventually)
Possibly lowering

Now, everytime i see the stock ride height, and then see pics of lowered sedans on swift springs, i get the itch to buy the springs.

BUT

I have read through MANY different threads on lowering with swift springs saying the alignment will be off. Now, how bad will it be. Do i absolutely NEED to get the camber kits? Because im in canada, and have only found swift springs for a price of $561 plus taxes and shipping, which gets me over $600 which im seeing as a bit insane if i have to start messing with installing camber kits too.

So, i want my g sedan to look nice obviously, and lowering would definitely help. But im on the fence, because, the roads where i live are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE, and i don't want to be bouncing around as i drive my luxury car. As i type this, i'm getting more and more convinced to just leave it alone. But the itch to modify is unbearable lol. My stock 17s have one wheel bent, so i will be upgrading to 18s or 19s. But, i have yet to find a perfect wheel and tire size setup that looks good at stock height. If i was to upgrade to 18s, i'd probably go for the s model wheels. 19s, the coupe wheels (the ones that have the most spokes, not sure of the name of them). I had a 2006 g35x before this, and the stock height was not bad with sport 18s and a front chin lip

What size of tire would fill up the fender gap nicely?

Sorry for the bombarding of questions, i'm just on the fence and am tired of searching and searching for the answers im looking for lol.

I apologize if what i'm looking for has already been answered.

I have attached a pic of my car, and a pic of (what i think) looks good as wheel size/fitment goes for what looks like stock ride height.

Thanks!

Well, after looking at another thread, ive decided against lowering. Would rather keep my car riding nice and not stress about alignment issues too.

But, i do still want to upgrade from the stock uglys. Suggestions on tire sizes with wheel fitment would be awesome!!

Thanks!

So I assume your Sedan is the one in the middle? The top silver G is sick! I wanted that color so bad when I was looking for mine, and I settled for the Smoky Quarts which looks like you have the same color..? It's hard to tell from pics sometimes. I'm in the same boat as you, as I just got my 2011 Sedan about 6 weeks ago and I have the mod bug lol I plan to paint the grill and trunk lid spoiler (I know it's not a spoiler but I don't know what else to call it) and I luckily got the upgraded wheels on mine so I'm really hesitant to paint those. They already look so sharp, but I have a feeling when all the rest of the bright silver and chrome is blacked out, I won't want the wheels to stand out so I'll probably paint them anyway. I don't really want to lower mine either. Partially because it already rides so nice, and if I need new shocks at some point, I might do adjustable coilovers or something because I love the "lowered" look, but I don't want to have to worry about scraping everywhere. I just want to get rid of some of the wheel/fender gap. I'm also getting a custom axleback put on in a week and a half. Needs tint really bad and I don't have a clue where I can get the material to black out the chrome trim around the windows. I've looked and all the kits for that have such bad reviews. But going to a custom shop is like 200+ just to wrap the trim black... That's ridiculous lol So I might just resort to plasti-dipping that trim. I also don't know how or where to have the inside of the headlights painted... Can you do that yourself? I know you can put the housing in the oven to melt the seal and pull it apart, but I don't want to risk leaks once it's put back together...

We are in very similar boats, so let me know your thoughts and maybe we can help eachother out on choosing what to do? idk lol
Here's a pic of my sedan. This is literally just after getting home from picking it up, so there's some bugs and stuff splattered on the front. I've since applied a ceramic spray coating and it's a world of difference! Car stays shiny and clean for a week without touching it and I just have to spray it with a hose or just wait for some rain then dry it off to get rid of whatever dust or road grime has stuck to it. No scrubbing needed. Anything on it just wipes right off. Pretty impressive stuff.

Nice ride man!! Those wheels definitely look A LOT better than mine!

Ive seen some sedans, i think my paint is graphite or whatever, with gunmetal wheels that look REAL nice. I was originally thinking of going 19s, with stock coupe wheels (the ones with more spokes). But i felt 19s look good only with a drop. And id rather not take the dive in ride quality.

So my conundrum lies in choosing an 18 inch wheel, that looks good with the paint, and has good fitment.

So far my choices are pretty much the ones that look like yours, or the "s" 18s. Im going to probably end up waiting till next season for new wheels/tires since the car came with next to new ones already, and winters. So i may as well just run the uglies for the rest of the season and budget for a nice set.

I really want to black it out too, but am afraid it will be "too much". But i guess its something ill have to do and see how it goes. One thing at a time i guess.

Yeah ive never taken apart headlights to paint, so this will be my first attempt. Was about to do it to my red g35, but i sold it lol.

I will be getting it tinted eventually as well!

So far, all ive gotten done are the tail lights with vvivid dark smoke. Took a long time but it was worth it. A few rough edges but it looks sick!!

I was also looking at a set of RTX 18" Turbine 2 wheels. I like the wheels but no idea fitment wise how they'll look on the g.

Or something like these enkeis. Wheels are so hard to choose hahaha

yeah i i literally just got a ceramic coat kit off amazon. Previous owner had the front end wrapped with clear 3M protection film which im VERY happy with.

Once i fix some minor rust bubbles here and there on er, shes getting a full on detail before winter!

Also, are your wheels staggered? I think my final choice of wheels are the ones you have, the only ones i found for sale are staggered unfortunately.

I think in a black chrome, or gunmetal finish, they'd look amazing!!

No, mine are all the same since mine is an X (AWD). I think you may have found wheels that were on a RWD sedan, which will work fine as long as it's the width of the wheels that's staggered and not the OD of the tires. Those wheels you have a pic of would look good. I know 35 offset should be pretty flush from when I was looking at wheels a while back. I'd just search by the wheel specs and not what car it fits on, so you get more results. I'm basically going to be painting my wheels, grill and chrome trunk lip a dark charcoal metallic. I don't have money for new wheels lol
I'm so jealous of your color, I wanted that color so bad when I was looking for mine lol Also very good that the previous owner put on the front clear bra. That will save your front end BIGTIME. My coupe had 250k and it literally had no clearcoat left in the front and was covered in rock chips. Luckily my sedan is much cleaner and has very few rock chips. Which I'm hoping the added protection of the ceramic coating prevents more chips somewhat.

Thanks man! Your colours pretty nice as well!!

Yeah ill just be patient and wait till i find a good set of wheels. Waiting for my hks exhaust so i can fix some little things while shes in the air.

Might as well remove the bumper and paint my lights at the same time. First time ill ever be painting anything so wish me luck haha.

I "might" end up doing the grill too depending on how the lights turn out. Cuz $550+ for a midnight grill is stupid lol.

I'll chime in here as I'm lowered on eibach's & 19" coupe rims. For what it's worth, I still love looking at my car every day after 2-3 years of owning the springs. But Orlando roads (I-4) are taking a toll on my car .... I'm at almost 100k miles & looking to replace my shocks soon to see how it feels but the lowering springs are indeed rough. And I did have to buy a rear camber kit/toe bolts & installed them w/ the springs. When I got an alignment @ Infiniti they complained that my front's didn't have the same adjustable kit but got me as close to in spec as they could. I'll likely purchase it later this year but not driving too much at the moment. All in, it's a lot of money to spend on a look, while losing quite a bit of ride quality in the process. I will not be lowering another car in future.

I have added some 15mm front spacers & gotten another alignment since the below photo was taken & I'm content with my setup for now. Need to take some new photos after a wash..

Please don’t plastidip the window trim.

Please do not plasty dip the chrome window trim. I don’t think you will be happy with the end result. But that is my opinion, I could be wrong.

There are several threads on this site that explain how to do the black out chrome around the windows. Basically you just buy some vinyl, and it explains what vinyl in that thread that you will need to get. It’s a gloss black I believe, but don’t quote me on that. It even tells you the measurements on how to cut the vinyl so you’re not wasting hardly any of it. I’ll have to look around and I will send you a copy of that thread.

I agree. I bought plastidip like over a year ago to try on wheels and my grille on my older g35, never bothered because i figured it would look stupid.

I imagine vinyl wrap would be best for the trim and trunk trim as well, but plastdip may be ok for just the badges.

Thank you!

Not sure what the tint is as it was already on the car when I purchased it - but definitely pretty dark. Surprised I've never been pulled over for it here in FL.

The headlights are OEM that I sent up to oneighty to paint the shrouds black & add the halos. I was going to crack them open myself but just didn't have the time.

Quite a few users have done this same mod at home, would definitely suggest that first, although I will say oneighty did a great job - just expensive for what it is (especially shipping, etc.)
