Isn't my 6MT Sedan 3700 pounds? So the weight savings here is about as much as one well-fed adult male.

I figured...There was no way they were going to let that thing go for less than the previous gen while having more tech and better power plant. Red, Yellow or Blue interior only at the moment....not sure how I'd feel about that.

I am sure that "spokesperson" caught a lot of flack for that error.
So, starting at $40K... this translates to $50/55K+ when you factor dealer markup, this "supply chain nonsense," early demand, and the rumors that this will likely be the last V6 from Nissan as they push to this "all electric" junk.

Still not sold on it...

I very clearly remember the first time I laid eyes on the new 1990 300Z, on the showroom floor of a Nissan dealership that's since long gone. It was one of those got-to-have moments that I never acted on because I couldn't at the time. Crazy to think how that was 32 years ago.

Just crazy the cost of new cars now. Average new car purchase is $36k? I understand inflation and by comparison the 370 was $39k in '09 or $50k in today's money but a $40k car note @ 2% for 60 months is still $700-750/month...Add the inevitable markup and looking at close to 1k/month.

You're getting more car by today's standards but dear God that's brutal; even for a healthy salary.

Sadly, it's even more than that.....$47K as of December

Almost 4 years ago, my plan was to add a 3rd car to the garage--Mustang, Camaro, 370Z, etc. And while my plan to payoff the R in 4 years is on track, I think I'm getting priced out of a 3rd car. Add on I'm working from home permanently and only driving 2-3K a year and it's tough to justify. I suppose there will be some sort of pricing correction, but I doubt it'll be a significant magnitute.

That's my life, too. All my long term plans for "next car" got thrown out the window when I started only driving 2-3k a year on my G. So now instead of a 10 year plan, I'm just hanging on and loosely targeting college graduation for both my girls, and/or retirement. One, the other or both.

The way things are going, I'll probably lose interest in having a performance car, and just get something comfortable (sigh).

Life happens.

Hi, Lego.

I wasn't wrong about it being heavier either.
So about 100 lbs. more with an extra 80 ft/lbs. and two new turbos. Yeah, I can live with that. Sorry to hear you guys are expecting dealer mark ups in your area. Our dealer group has never done that. Probably why we already have 8 of the new Z's sold. Still waiting to be able to order them...

You know, if a 2-seater at 40K is a little steep...

That's with the full aero package. The mid trim (Club) costs an additional 2K and you can add the 4500 big brake kit... or autocross once and order the Brembo parts from Mazda Motorsports for about $1200. Half the power, true... but 1100 pounds lighter, too.

Personally, I've never had a car payment over $300. I'm not sure I could choke down a $600-800 monthly car payment for *anything*.

Although, the wife is looking at Audi Q3 at $45k or so to replace the CX5... so

We paid off my wife's 2018 Forester 2.5i Touring Edition in four years, with exactly $600/month payments. But that was at zero percent financing.

Kind of hard to say "no" to zero percent, so we added a 10/year warranty to the loan.

I think we were at 2.2% with the CX5; we did the same re: warranty (would recommend for any new car to get through the loan period at least). We got our money back on a $4k A/C repair that cost us the warranty (about $1800) and a $50 co-pay.

I'm trying to convince her to get a Mini Cooper 4-door or another CX5... but she wants to move up and hey, she makes as much as I do so sure. QX50 looks like it is about the same size/money but I'm a bit leary - and it uses the DE engine...

Oh, I surely entered. But I never win anything. I couldn't win a silent auction where I'm the only bidder.
