What vehicle will be a worthy replacement for your sedan when it is time?
The all new Z car is supposed to debut later this year. However, it was supposed to debut a couple of years ago so it will be no surprise if it is delayed again. Especially since Nissan is supposed to be releasing new models for 70% of their lineup in the next 18 months. The Z is probably not their first priority since it is a low sales volume car.
400ZX?
I am eager to try the M2 Competition on some bumpy roads this spring so I can make sure it rides ok as a daily driver. The 20" rims with rubber band tires on the M3 Competition did not ride very well. The reviews are a bit split on the M2 Competition, but I think it will be a great car. I am curious to see the reviews of the M2 CS as well.

I'd skip on the STi unless you want to be rebuilding the motor every few years. As years went by you think they can build these so they don't grenade over time.

If it looks like anything like this, sports the VR30, manual available, and has updated interior/tech it will get my approval.

Wait, you are scared about bumpy roads for a M2 but seriously considering an STi? Something does not compute here.

The new STI is getting an entirely new motor. I tracked 3 different Subarus for well over a decade and never had one issue with the motors. The issue is dumb kids who buy a WRX or STI second hand and crank the boost way up and blow the motor.

Some of the rumors I have been reading seem to indicate it won't be a massive overhaul but rather an incremental one, which imo would be kind of disappointing. If that's the case I would expect it to be like what they did to the GT-R and overhauled the interior and front/rear end but left all the sheet metal the same. Probably that, coupled with the red sport motor.
That render makes me sad. Looks like a Hyundai Genesis coupe. I think the Z34 will be the last good Z, even though it should have had a V8 from the beginning. They'll probably put in the VR30DDTT in the new Z. And will most likely have the same configuration choices as the Q50 3.0t and the RedSport. If it will be any good, well I'll be d*mned.
Seeing the Q50 review and comments. What is funny is that both cars have the same exact motor, except the Redsport has a slightly larger inter-cooler and has raised boost, that's it. From a financial standpoint, you're better off with a Q50 3.0t and just upgrading the intercooler (less than $500) and a tune to raise the boost up. Someone did that and gained 500 hp on their Q50. I really hope they will make the Z in manual, but I doubt it. It will probably feel like the Q50 in terms of ride quality.

as a non-redsport. Nissan/Infiniti would never go to great lengths to put a new set of turbos because if it’s not broke it works. The 3.0t non-rs runs 8.7 pounds of boost and the red sport runs 14.7 pounds of boost.
I had an STI on stiff springs and it rode significantly better than an M3 Competition on the stock suspension. Again, I hope the M2 Competition rides better than the M3 Competition.

Which year did you have? I enjoyed flogging them around whenever I had a chance to but each time I kept wanting more. More power, more sideways action, more refinement.
Dead of winter, 20°F out, but the pavement is clear. Found myself in my G, stopped in traffic next to a perfectly clean, brand new BMW M4 Vert (hard-top up, duh). Odd car to see in the winter. Not a car that I want, but still... beautiful.
A few minutes later I'm on the highway slowly passing traffic around 65 in a 55, and drove by a Tesla Model 3. A moment after it fell past my line of sight he burst forward and took off like a slingshot, silently and without any effort. Just pure acceleration without any drama.
Wow.
Anyway, it made me think about the crazy performance of electric cars like that, and I've come to realize something. I actually like the drama. I like the noise and the grunt.

Teslas are quick but i just find them so bland to look at. I could never do it. I really dislike those cars. The only tesla i ever liked was that first roadster (in 2008 i think?) It looked cool, the front almost looked like a shrunken down Nsx and the rear kind of like a Lotus exige. I got to walk around one in a parking lot back then and talked to the owner. It was a unique little car.
The M cars are then other hand are definitely fine machines. Those M engines are pretty much bullet proof and I do kind of like the m2 tbh.
M4, there are way too many of them here in my city. I wish it looked a tad more unique vs all the other 3/4 series that aren't M cars but like i said, my city is full of M4s and i dont want to park my car next to 4 other identical cars everywhere i go lol. Also I just cant "wear" a beamer, it doesn't suit me..but will admit that it is one fine machine lol
Honestly bmw is probably the best bet for many after the G. Those 335s are a direct match up to our cars but faster and more power. (Rwd and manual option) Its just high maintenance on 335s +the turbo setup (you can google about waste gate issues), if you can afford the odd 4-5k fix me uppers, its fine.
Ms are even a step up but obviously cost more. But yea, you cant go wrong with an M.
I have owned an older 3 series in the past though ( 1994 to be exact) as a daily driver/winter car when i had my integra and it never let me down and was still a decently fun car).

After picking up the G37S I got the sudden urge to own a e90 m3 with a 6 speed. If the G37S is good, how much fun would a 4 door e90 with a v8 must be? I wish the newer models were still available with a v8.
