Just my 2 cents here. I can tell you're very hesitant & all good reasons to be so! There are lots of nice g37 sedans out there with a clean back ground or a good carfax. To me...peace of mind is worth ALOT. I would move along for a better option.

I would say that with my experience in buying cars from auctions it's a hit or miss (less damage is less risk). I own a 2012 g37s sedan and purchased it 2 years ago at 40k miles same damage u describe at first And I just hit 80k miles running strong!👌ðŸ½.
The question is are u feeling lucky?

Like I said earlier, My G had an accident, sideswiped before I purchased, but no fame damage and was repaired properly and has a CLEAN title. Even if it was aligned to drive properly, most of the time Frame Damage will rear it's ugly head at some point after your purchase
Agreed. I also learned the hard way in picking out auctioned cars. Any frame damage usually is high risk and if not properly fixed u will dread with disappointment. I say walk away. IMO.

I will get it inspected by Infiniti.. but will that be enough to ensure it's all good?
Meh, you know G37s don't have frames, right?

Identify risks:
* doesn't go down road straight
* not water tight
* inconsistent panel gaps
* further repair required

Mitigate risks:
* visual inspection
* inspection by trusted party (friend, dealer, 3rd party mechanic)
* test drive

Evaluate risk vs reward:
* what risks exist after step 2? How much are you saving off retail

On one hand 11k in damage sounds scary. On the other hand, you can spend that much on airbags in a G37.

I'd like to hear more about things gone wrong from you.

Here's some things I missed on my car:

1) Trunk doesn't shut right
2) Side airbag not fixed properly

#2, was $150 and a couple hours. #1 continues to **** me off.

Thanks iCrap and Jsolo for your extremely valuable insight into this situation.

Would have been nice to actually get some thoughts on the topic at hand, and then a little ball busting for using the word at the end.. oh well.
"than" a little ball busting.

Just kidding.

Back on topic. Don't buy a car that's been in an accident.

How much did you pay?

Also doesn't it help a lot if Infiniti dealer inspects it and they say the repair was done well and should be no issues? Obviously that doesn't mean it will 100% be good but, still, maybe 80%+?

Right.

I am saving quite a chunk of change off retail..

Would you personally consider it?

OK guys, found a new one, no frame damage, rebuilt car. 2011 G37x gray. 87,000KM. Says lowest price is $12,750 right now but I think that is high considering everything that happened on it.

It looks beautiful in pictures.

It has had $33,000 CAD in repairs over it's life, but the 1st big one was when it was brand new, FRONT CENTER, for $25,000! car was then a salvage title. Airbags deployed.

The owner had bought the car, and crashed it, 7 effing days later, to the tune of 25k. It didn't even have 1,000km on it.

Then there was a minor accident when it was in Florida.. (car is from Montreal, Quebec).

Then 2014, a $9,000 accident in the front right corner.

Then 3 months later, new rebuilt title, new owner, and voila, here we are, that owner is trying to sell it.

No frame damage as far as I can see although who knows.. i'll get it checked out if I decide to buy it.

What would a good price be in CAD dollars for this to make an offer? 10k? Is it even worth it? The car does look absolutely flawless in pictures...

The shop that did the last repair on it in the front is a very reputable shop who only work on Infiniti's...

Sounds like a bad luck car to me. If you're at all superstitious, run!

I offered the guy $10,000 as a starting point. I think this is more than fair given the history of the car, right?

Is it maybe too much? I would get it inspected by Infiniti to make sure it's good mechanically and body wise. So 2 seperate inspections from their garage, and their body shop guys. OR, better to just walk away?

He is down to $11,350 right now, I said 10k is what I can do given history, which I think is very fair....
