Battery keeps dying
Battery keeps dying
My battery has kept dying and finally I got it tested at Autozone today. I was told the alternator is not the problem but my battery has 30% of its power. He also mentioned something is drawing a lot of power when the car is off which is killing the battery. I've read on this board that it might be the radio drawing power even when the car is off. Is there a way to test thiS?
well get a multi meter and check to see what the draw off the battery is when your car is off. then you can pull fuses and see if it made a difference in the amps. or you can test the draw at the fuses. try to isolate it down. but you might want to get a battery tender.
i had an old c5 corvette that i drove only once a week. the battery would die constantly from the alarm/seat motors always on/etc. i picked up a battery tender and never had an issue after. just keep it plugged in.

I had the same problem in my 2006 G35 coupe. Battery was less than a year old. People kept saying it was the Bose head unit, but after I swapped out the head unit for an aftermarket one, it still died after a few days. Then I saw people saying it was the Bose amp, but I never got around to testing it. I got tired of it and never found out the cause.
Hopefully you will get some answers, because I'd be curious to know too. But I haven't had this happen to my sedan yet, but mostly because I drive it nearly every day unless I'm out of town. Looking forward to seeing your test results and findings, if you get to a conclusion.

recharge your battery to its full capacity then check for a parasitic draw with an amp clamp. anything over 100mA after 15minutes is going to be a problem. you would need to check by pulling fuses in the fuse box to help isolate the problem circuit if you have a draw. don't assume you have a radio problem just because you read someone else on the forum had the problem. assumptions like that will just get you more confused as to the issues you are having.

I have the same issue now going on for about 1.5yrs and only happens in the winter. Yesterday I decided to try duralast platinum battery cause the only thing the dealer can tell me is the car was left on in the on position and that i don't drive my car enough.
I had to same issue! I went to infiniti and they recharged the battery and said everything was good to go! After about a day or so it started to do it again and I went back. Sure enough this time they said the battery was just "dead"
