I've been using Mequar's Ultimate Synthetic Paste Wax for a number of years now.
Check out Collinite 845. If you're like me and would like something that doesn't need to be re-applied as often, Collinite has been tested over on detailing forums to be the longest lasting wax (check autotopia, and reddit's autodetailing sub).

I'm going on 2 months with intense heat (95F today)on the wax, it is still beading as of last weekend.

I've heard good things about this stuff.. Might give it a shot for my winter prep detail this year..

I was a die hard Collinite Carnauba Paste Wax fan decades ago. Got nothing bad to say about Collinite products.

I used to care about this stuff, but honestly, its just a car and its just paint. You are going to get dings and chips, etc. anyway. My time is more valuable than the paint--a lot more. If you think you are going to get $1000s more for your car when you sell it if you hand wash, you are kidding yourselves. If I placed a dollar amount on the time I save by not messing with hand washing, I could repaint the car several times. (I figure my free time is at least $100 per hour, so if I forgo hand washing 30 times per year over 5 years, that is $15K for a one hour hand washes vs. $20 per month at the car wash.)

I guess that post cost you about $3.32 if it took 2 minutes at your going rate of $100/hr.

Excellent logic, brizey. I also recommend you stop bathing and shaving.

But I hear ya on the not caring as much about it these days. In HS, I'd wash my third-hand Integra at least once per week, and probably a full detail once a month. Now, I give it a good hand wash maybe once every two months, and pay a guy to do a full detail (paint correction) every other year or so.

Still never do the auto-wash though

Here is another option: Just start tuning your car so you are too low to go through the car wash like me. Problem solved!
