help with G35s
help with G35s
per a member's suggestion, I'm cross posting this from g35driver. hopefully y'all can help out a bit.
I've had my ride since late '09 - 07 G35S with every available option, including AWS. I've recently developed a few minor issues that I'd like to do something about.
1. The small aluminum trim right below the CF card area and right above the ashtray is slightly scratched. it bugs me. It looks like a separate piece that might be able to be replaced. So is it replaceable? and where do I find it. Couldn't find it at infinitiparts. I "THINK" I saw it as part of a trim replacement kit on ebay, but don't need the rest of it.
2. My brake pedal is suddenly making a small squeak/noise. Almost sounds like a very quiet "woosh" noise rather than a squeak. Anyone experienced this? It's very quiet, and if the radio is on, you probably wouldn't hear it. It's bugging the **** outta me... note... i also have another issue that might be related (VDC/Slip/ABS lights on) that I'm going to ask about in a separate thread...
4. I just started noticing that the front struts/springs might be squeaking. They're definitely stock and original, with 100k on them. Squeaking = going bad/need replaced? or normal? It's not bad and I only hear it when going very slow/windows down/radio off.
5. big one: I have the 6MT. The clutch has ALWAYS been noisy. I had the entire transmission replaced under warranty 6 months after getting the car or so. However, it seems that the clutch is getting noisier. It has a significant rattle when shutting the car off if I don't have the clutch pedal pressed in when powering down. It SOUNDS like the throw out bearing (which was replaced before I bought it), but I have no idea. Anyone with the G35S 6MT have this obnoxious noise? It's also noisy when idling. The clutch feels fine, as does the pedal during normal driving. I have no error codes or other issues at this moment. (besides a bad clutch reservoir cap which is on order and currently held on by wire ties and copious amounts of duct tape )
6: driver's side window is a little sticky going down. it hangs up right at the start and then goes down fine. the hotter it is, the worse this is.
yeah... lots of little things! suggestions? one suggestion could be... time to upgrade to a Q! lol

What happened to 3?
2 - Is the grommet in the firewall broken where the brake pedal pushes the master cylinder? You might be hearing the fluid in the cylinder moving or the piston seals gliding through the bore.
6 - Mine does that some times. One day, when the weather cools and I start driving with the windows down again, I'll do something about it. I expect I'll try cleaning the seal material.

Hey dookie, glad you stopped over here, I think you'll find this a busier site w/ quicker replies.
1)if you are a DIY type you might just consider giving your interior trim a make-over, I did mine in a different tone, but want to go w/ machined black for a more dramatic change. Here's my link that may be of help, as far as ordering just that one part, I'm sure you can, I'd call Discount Infiniti Parts | Genuine, OEM Infiniti Parts | Infiniti Accessories | Huge Inventory and see what they say.

There's some threads/pics about that black machined vinyl, just don't have time to link them.
4) 100k is typically beyond the expiration date for stock dampers, if you want to lower your G a bit you might consider Tein Basis Z coilovers, these are an affordable coilover that's not made to be slammed, you can get a set for under $500 shipped, probably less than just a new set of OEM dampers.

heh... well, i originally had a question about restoring the rear arm rest plastic, but decided to sand and paint instead of plasti-dipping them. so I deleted, and forgot to re-number!

2. I don't know. i'll have to check. good call though. it's only mildly annoying right now, but annoying enough to want to fix it.
6. I thought about trying to grease the window track, but wasn't sure where I should apply it. You could very well be correct about it just needing cleaning. The windows are tinted as well and that could be adding the little extra bit of friction...

4. you are correct. I figured it's about time to replace them. I haven't been too into modding on the G surprisingly, but a very moderate lowering might be nice. I'll check them out.
