Installed the Redline shift boot.

 

I have a redline boot coming, but for my S2K. How is the quality/fitment?

 

Excellent on both! The stock boot is very thin and flimsy in comparison.

 

Getting a real leather boot is a genuine upgrade. Well done.

 

Took her to the shop.
Getting a hot smell of sorts after driving a little bit. Not burning oil smell or anything, just noticably hot. Even the wife has noticed it a few times. Don't notice around the grill or edge of hood, more around the front doors. Gonna change drive belt and clean throttle bodies while at it. Now I wait...

 

Dropped the car off to have the steering rack replaced.

For those of you that have replaced your serpentine belt.....what brand did you go with? I'm getting a screeching noise at startup, and at 53K, figure it's time to replace the belt.

Dealer wanted $78 for the belt and 1 hour labor

 

Last year I picked up a Gates belt, K070795, for $27 through Amazon. It's been sitting here in the corner of my office ever since. In fact I'm looking right at it, which is why I have the Part # handy. My best intention is to DIY the belt swap this Spring, or maybe have the shop do it... IDK yet. If I DIY, then I think I'll need one of those thin breaker bars.

Lego, pretty sure your dealership is asking 2X the cost of the belt, and a full hour for a 15 minute job.

I told the service writer I'd be go $100 installed and he told me they don't negotiate prices

I'm planning to do the swaybar bushings and end links this weekend, so I'll have the bottom cover off and the car up, which should give better access. Might as well try the belt too

 

Pretty sure the belt is swapped from the top, not the bottom, using a thin handle, serpentine belt breaker bar. But I've not done it yet, so take that with a grain of salt. They should have taken you up on the $100 offer. It was fair.

I'm going to try using just a standard 3/8" rachet and

There is a video on YouTube too and he uses a standard 3/8 craftsman ratchet with a cheater bar. My 3/8 snapon ratchet is even thinner. I don’t think you need a special tool.

 

I don't recall using any special tool when I did it on my 350Z... I doubt much has changed
