[QUOTE=RMB5190;4153674]Whats the drone like with a tubular muffler like that?[/QUOTE)

There is some drone in the higher RPM'S. Very quiet on the fwy.

obsidiansamurai. Yes a 3 chamber is gonna be a bit quieter than a 2 chamber.

@Obsidian, I'd Imagine it owuld be louder with chambered mufflers replacing the turbos since they aren't suppressed at all with packing material but at the same time, it produces a deeper tone in every application I've heard and there's actually less rasp in every application compared to turbo muffler set-ups

Finally had time to start assembling my air flow mods. Firstly My Ark Grip CBE is broken in already and has about 5k miles on it at most. I just installed Berks HFC yesterday, and I'm awaiting my appointment for RT tuning coming up to install and tune my custom 3" Intake I ordered. The sound is amazing in real life, no video, no sound clip, no fly by will do it justice as to how mean and aggressive the G sounds now. Ill post the video with just the Ark after install, and the Ark + Berk HFC. Let me know what you guys think.

@c1utchh Can you do a interior sound clip with windows up? If possible, can you also cruise under 2K rpm giving a little bit of gas? I want to hear how badly it drones. My ark by itself drones kinda loudly 1.5-2K rpm. Wonder how hfc will influence that.

I can take a windows up sound clip later today. Idling isn't bad tbh. It drones, oh it drones, You know how it gurgles before it hits the next gear in D or DS? With this the tone itself is amplified to give it a more deeper tone. Ark pipes for instance give it a much quieter and deeper tone. FI, free up the sound but it does not amplify it with a deep raspy tone. The Berks give it an extra deep tone and more of a wale (idk if thats the right word) when you push it.

Cool thanks.

For me, the only thing about ark that kind of annoys me is the drone at 1.5-2k rpm when you give it a bit more gas than feathering. Cruising at like 60. Right when I get past mid 2000 it all clears up and starts to gurgle and purr.

I've hears from some that hfc kind of frees up that drone noise down low and was considering getting hfc myself.

After 4 months what I noticed from the Ark Grip CBE is 2 different sound outputs. First output is very low and barely raspy or deep tone after you cold start and drive it around for 15ish minutes. The second output is when you drive your car around for some time turn it off then turn it on later, its quiet automatically because everything is warmed up, and its hard to get deep sounding tones out of it.

I am personally driving my G in MM mode because of the way it conserves gas more (instead of constantly pushing 6th or 7th gear how it does in D or DS) and I love the way down shifting sounds with the Ark alone and with Ark + Berks. I'll actually try to include the down shifting in the windows up clip, but I'm sure if you pay attention in the fly by vid with windows down you can hear a deep aggressive down shift from the VQ itself.

I'm hoping I understand correctly when you say WOT, wide open throttle?

So What I have noticed with the Ark is in MM after a good warming of the engine, it seems to only growl in 3rd gear 2k-3.75k rpm and 4th gear 2.75k-4k rpm. These are the only times it gives off a deep sounding tone followed by a growl behind it. During the tune for the intakes I also hope to purchase bigger Throttle bodies to really open up her tone to the world, my neighbors will hate me but idc.

H8ters gonna h8 .

Looking forward to a report afterwards. Where'd you get the Intake from? Anticipate some radiator support modifications there. Going with the 63 mm TBs? Seems like any bigger and there's a possibility of air flow issues overwhelming the stock IM.

It seems like only very experienced tuners have found a way around it since some Z guys have reported fantastic results when they work.

Yep that's what i meant. I guess this explains why i saw a G37 coupe in the freeway once, i couldn't hear his exhaust at all, (with my windows up) when i got closer i saw that they were ARK. My guess is he had stock cats though. I'm also looking forward to your findings.

best purring sound for me is at 2800-3200ish range. Well up to about 4K sounds good. But light/med throttle at 2800 makes me smile every time.

Maybe they were cruising low rpm? I have stock cats and I feel like people should hear me. It sounds loud from my perspective anywho.

@kroy, I sneaked in a quick vid with the windows up, in the streets I'm not consistent yet to keep it at 2k rpm in 2nd or 1st gear.

Hopefully I'll be able to put up much better sounding videos.

You have Ark Grip CBE and getting drone. I thought it uses Helmholtz resonators which are used to eliminate drone.... How bad is it?

I was watching your video, but could not hear any drone... I guess my setup is much worse lol

@dzionassi well.... you have md + hfc. Pretty sure that's the loudest setup without straight/art pipe.

I took a video last night. I'm uploading to youtube. I'll share in a bit when it's done.
