Fob range increase.Has anyone tried this?

I just watched this video that said if you put two CR2016 CV batteries in your fob creating 6 volts instead of 3 volts it will give you longer range to lock and unlock your doors. Not sure if it will work or not. I sure don't want to damage my fob.Thoughts???

I just put the key fob up to my head and look in the direction of my car. lol

I also doubt that will work because I don't think the keyfob could fit two batteries.

I have for real tested the under chin thing and it added ~20ft of range! HAHA.

As for wiring 2 batts in series to double the volts? I don't see the value added but I would very much do it in parallel to double the time between battery changes. YMMV

While I would guess that the circuitry could handle the extra voltage and not fry anything, I would not recommend it as your gain would be marginal.

Yes the chin thing works. I have the auto start feature installed on my car using the oem fob. I just want extra range when starting it from a distance. I have the Viper alarm on my Mustang but I didn't want an extra fob on my Infiniti.

These batteries are thinner and are supposed to fit.

From: Framingham Ma,
only time I use the fob and not next to the car is to roll the windows down, Summer time. So the car is not boiling inside when I get in, I also use the head/chin trick

Lol.... Yeah I want the range to start my car when it's hot outside I can get the A/C going or when it's cold I can get the heater going.

You could also add a Fortin Evo and third party long range remotes. I'm looking to do this soon to my existing fortin Evo module that I use for remote start with the oem fobs.
See Fortin | Bypass modules, remote starters and alarm systems for more info

Me too. I just worry the button cover will eventually decompose.
