Top Speed Pro 1 Y-back exhaust - UPDATE not happy

( Sorry - Meant to open a new Thread and actually added to the original post)

Early October 2015 I installed the Top Speed exhaust.

Looking under the car today, it is rusting like crazy. The pipes connected to the Y-Pipe are completely covered by rust...

The rest isn't too much better with rust spots every where. Even the tips started rusting...

Will post some pics tomorrow.

You could remove the exhaust clean up rust and spray high temp thermal coating of some sort

Why does it matter if it is rusting under the car? The OEM exhaust will rust too. When I had mine, the tips would occasionally have some light surface rust in the winter. I think it is caused by road salt and moisture. I just polished the tips with a good cleaner and it came off with little effort.

It does matter, because after 6 months the pipes connecting to the y pipe are completely rusted and more than the original pipes that were on the car for over 3 years. Plus they are supposed to be stainless.....

From: Framingham Ma,
not saying anything other than do you wash under the car, specially in the winter, salt and the chemicals they use will eat anything. Stainless or not.

Automotive exhausts are usually mild steel or 304SS (stainless steel). 304SS oxidizes but doesn't generate rough flaky red/brown crystals like mild steel. It just turns colors, starting with gold to blue/purple to brown. If it's flaky red/brown, it's not stainless.

Dude, I live in Wisconsin and I got mine put on last year in the Summer...I looked the other week and it's terrible....I love the sound but I am glad I kept my stock exhaust because it will be only a matter of time before the Top Speed exhaust get's eatin' away.

The good part - I was able to clean of some of the rust and paint it silver using high heat paint and it looks good for now.

But there is no excuse for this much rust after 6 months on SS pipes.
