Yea I'm out
I honestly never understood why people valued BMW so much.. They might have been cool a decade ago but to me they are giant money pits that require a lease and really don't even look that great. I wouldn't say they are ugly but they is way too much hype around BMW. I appreciate Audi and Benz more but I still feel that they are over priced and more targeted towards an older demographic that is interested in comfort as apposed to driving dynamics. And yes I realize most of this is my opinion but its why it baffles me.

Are you sure you didn't get a G25? Maybe you had an older BMW when they weren't so sterile and comfort focused and were more sporty? Either way the G37 is an extremely fun car to drive and that's coming from someone w/ a stock car. Im sure it'll be even better w/ performance mods. And unless you have your own shop and tools youll need to take BMWs in for maintenance and such which is extremely pricey as stated.
I suppose you are a stranger to backyard mechanics. I am not afraid to get down and dirty.
I've been trolling BWM forums for a while now, and it's amazing how much the e60 N54 platform has been reverse engineered. Open source tools to flash different components, tunes with crazy extra functionality, many tweaks. G37 upgrade options don't even come close to the variety of options available for the N54.
The engine/tranny is capable of handling 600WHP, the stock turbos max out at 470WHP.
BTW, the new F10 platform is more of a boat, it's bigger and does not handle as well.
I've been eyeing a 2008 535i M sport with 46k km....the one obstacle is my wife. She cannot understand why I would want to trade in for an older car and pay money on top, lol.

No lie, I do like the 335i M sport package, it does inseed drive great. I like the low torque power. However, a couple guys in my office have had issues with theirs. One got the earlier model with the twin turbos and 2 others got the redesign 335 with the single turbo. The newer single turbo has been a little more reliable but they're all said this..."don't ever buy a used BMW, lease them, I'd be broke if it wasn't for the warrant."
Also driven 540i m sport... not impressed.
The 540 was really fast, but it just didn't handle well.
I've driven a number of 3-series over the last few decades, and pretty much liked them all, particularly a track-intended M3 E36. That car was brutal. And I've driven a 530i 6MT that was very much like a German Camry. And a 550i that was a rocket. And a 650i Vert that felt like an ocean liner.
After all these years, I have lots of respect for BMW products. There's so much to appreciate in the design and driving experience. But at the same time I think they aren't worth their upscale price, and am not fond of the stereotype that hangs over BMW like a cloud of smug. And would never, ever own one out of warranty. Ever.

335i is more comfort based imo as well. Feels heavy with heavy steering. Never liked that about BMW but they still handle well. Wouldn't say that it is better than the g37 as it does fairly well. My cousin had a 2008 335i sedan. Intakes. Down pipes. Exhaust. Methonal and jb4. He Made 490lb/ft and 430rwhp before blowing a turbo after a few months haha.
You guys are basically throwing out opinions though, as well all like different things about different cars. Is a BMW more expensive to maintain compared to a Nissan? Well, yea. That's a no brainier. I do know a few people that have never had issues out of their BMWs but I know more with mad issues. The ones without issues normally get them early and take great care of them. Goes the same way for Nissan and Infiniti but they just have less issues per X amount of cars.
Anyways, as for your personal issues... I would def try a J bung at the secondary's before paying anybody to pull that stuff off. Seems like a simple fix. If they haven't tried that yet. I'd try another performance shop.

Yep.
