Unfortunately, I have to agree with others. I would have never presented that video as evidence.
You ran the stop sign just as the other driver did. You both broke the same law, the speed at which it was done is not relevant.
I hope the insurance might view it in a different light, for your sake.
Think of it this way for argument's sake, if someone had made roll through a stop at a slower pace than you, and hit you, who's at fault? Is the speed at which the same infraction is committed a determining factor of a fault? Not sure about that....
I am curious to see the outcome.

Why are so many people missing the facts, it's not a rolling stop vs a rolling stop. This guy got to the stop sign after I was half way through and did not stop at all, let me repeat that, DID NOT STOP AT ALL. As I repeatedly said, had he done what I did, we would not have come close to a collision. Sheesh...

Anyway, this was my day today

Slide hammer worked well, pulled the bottom hinge out

But it took a little work getting the gap between the door and roof to align but here's the end result

Well "end result" for today at least. Obviously still a work in progress, the shade is minimally off but I didn't see it in sunlight yet but it's coming along, still a while but the good news is the funds were transferred and it's all in my account. Even if the few naysayers here end up being right and the fault will be split, this would still be my first claim with state farm in about 15 years which won't increase my premium anyway so all in all, at the end of all this I'll have some extra change in my pocket.

I'll update as to how this ends up being resolved

Pretty significant progress for one day, should end up doing pretty well in the end if your day one is any indication, G/L!

Curtain airbag done for today, there are little creases in the headliner. Maybe they'll work themselves out but if not I'm going to try the fabric steamer method, heard it works wonders.
Install was fairly straightforward, didn't have the take the headliner off completely, just the two roof handles and the sun visor. Headliner was already bent a bit at the time of deployment so I just wiggled in there to get to the 10mm screws. The connection was at the back, taking off the back of the passenger side rear seat helped a lot, as well the the corner peice between the door and the rear glass, all clipped on. That made it a lot easier to remove the blown bag and install the new one
Baby steps but in the right direction, still waiting on the fault decision...

Trying to do as much as I can, the more I do the less I pay someone else to do. A good friend works at a body shop so that will help too, and anything that requires bolting and unbolting I can generally do myself. The airbag module can be reset and I'll be taking my seat to be restiched with the new airbag so this repair may stretch out but I should save a good amount of money. On top of that I really enjoy working on my car.

Well I finally received the verdict from State Farm, after reviewing all the facts, including the dash cam video, they correctly faulted the other driver completely and now they're in the process of getting the money back for what they paid out to me so I will be getting my deductible as well. All in all I came out ok of all of this, car should be completed repaired this month and most importantly no one was hurt. Lessons learned, hopefully for others on here too.

That's cool at least "your" insurance sided with you. Probably wouldn't be in their best interest if they didn't. Let us know what the other guy's insurance decides to do. My guess is you'll both be found negligent and case will end in a tie! But, you may win the tie breaker to some degree!

Oh and now this crap, coming home last night, I'm driving my girlfriend's car (2011 vw gti) we're stopped at a red light, complete standstill, we're the only ones on this road since it was close to 12am and BOOM, we get rear ended. Wtf, is it my luck or my gf's?? Luckily the damage isn't as extensive as mine, but what this lady was driving is insane, a 96 chevy cavalier WITHOUT a tire on her rear right rim, not a flat but no physical evidence of a tire ever being on the rim. I have no idea what was wrong with her. She admitted fault and we pulled over to the side. She kept fumbling around for her insurance papers and couldn't find any. Called the cops and while we were waiting she starts driving off, I yelled for her to stop and she did. Cops weren't showing up but luckily I flagged a passing cop and he stopped. Got her insurance info and we left but the cop wasn't going to let her go. I'd really love to know what the f*** was up with this whole thing. At least she had insurance and the claim is in the works. Here's a pic of what she was driving

What the hell is wrong with people... Can't wait to get some details, hopefully I will, the progressive rep that took my statement could hold it in and was cracking up.

Glad she has Insurace, I got my car totaled by a drunk last year and she provided info on insurance and then I get this call days after from Geico stating her insurance was not active and I went after restitution and not she's making me payments. Glad you both are ok

LoL with the rate you're going at you should play the lottery, I wouldn't be surprised if the lucky numbers "hit" you

if you had fully stopped at the "stop" sign this could have been prevented both of you were in the wrong. I am glad your GF didn't sustain any serious injuries. Hope all works out for you in the end.
