Review of Fast Intentions CBE
Finally got around to installing my exhaust today. So far I've been cruising around with Takeda CAI, M370, Z1 HFC and I was never truly happy with the sound. At WOT the car sounded great but the typical drive around town drove me crazy with the amount of Rasp I was getting from my HFC. My major concern was..... I really didn't want an exhaust. I wanted the car to be a sleeper but after 2 minutes of driving I was sold on my new exhaust!
At first start up its abundantly obvious there's something going on with the car. It grumbles with a deep throaty rumble but subsides quickly as the motor warms. The sounds is quite dosile at low RPM but deep. As the motors starts to spin up the tone stays deep but you can start to hear the motors whine as the RPMs clime. The exhaust note seems to fade at WOT as the intakes take over. The downshifts are by far the best part of the exhaust. Just the right punch of sound with some added gurgling sounds.
It's raining today so I only got a quick start up video but I have my stock exhaust video up aswell for comparison. I tried to keep all variables the same but at the end of the day its recorded on a cell phone so you can only expect so much....
I should have more videos up in in the next couple days. ..

Here's a still video outside of the car with Rev's, take off and some downshifts

Here's a video in the car showing what the interior sounds like at 70mph cruise control. I played the radio low to give it a comparison for anyone worried about drone.

Hey nothing wrong with that at all. Different strokes...... My main concern is staying as quiet as possible as I don't want any added / unwanted attention from our fine justice system. I kept my stock exhaust if anything were to happen (knock on wood) but the exhaust is really quite subdued at typical driving. Time will tell......

Are you having any major rasp with your HFC+CBE?
I have Magnaflow HFCs and with the stock exhaust it isn't that bad. My FI CBE should be later this week. I'm a little worried that with a more free flowing exhaust like the FI, that will increase the rasp more. I'm expecting some. I just hope it's not crazy raspy. Thanks for the review....

For me it was quite the opposite. The Rasp has virtually dissappeared. Still have the hiss from the HFC when the RPM's drop but that was to be expected. Take a look at my youtube page, I have a few videos of how the rasp was prior to the exhaust install. I should have some videos up this afternoon with the exhaust post-FI install.
The problem with the stock exhaust isn't so much the sound it makes as the sound it doesn't make... by which I mean it's extremely quiet. Videos recorded next to the exhaust make it sound fantastic, but in reality it's barely audible if you're not standing right next to it.

And to note, the exhaust is louder than I would have liked, but like I said, I was looking for sleeper / stock exhaust levels of noise. I'm still very happy with the purchase but it's just a personal preference. Definitely in love with the tone and the removal of the dreaded rasp my HFC was giving me so it's an even trade off.
Yep. It certainly isn't subtle. The phrase I keep coming back to is that sometimes the sound of this exhaust is more worthy than the car. But make no mistake, it's not subtle, no matter how you drive it. And as long as you're not in the habit of revving the engine while in park, because racecar
, you'll be fine.
Here's a "garage tour" at FI, that I saw for the first time today. IDK why, but it gave me a whole new appreciation for the brand.
