Since the G37 is history, what are you looking at for your next car?
The Jag F-type coupe is a real stunner. I love it. 2 problems for me though. It has not even the smallest back seat, which is handy for bags when travelling. I plan to travel a lot in it. Because of this the seat won't fold back far enough for the passenger to snooze comfortable on long trips. And, the price. To get enough HP, it's really too much.
Next car is probably 4-5 yrs out, if I stick in or near the city, might as well get something good on gas, like a Fiat or something. Sports cars don't go well with speed cameras and gridlock traffic.
If I move out to the 'burbs, not sure, probably an S4, lack of stick notwithstanding. At the rate the G is depreciating, might as well hold on to it for those days I want to row some gears.

my wife really likes our AWD G, so she'll probably take it over while I look for a sport wagon or SUV....
1. Jeep SRT
2. E class wagon (amg hopefully -- 2013)
*if only they sold these in the US - RS6 Avant...... my dream!!

I'm feeling drawn to one of the Camaros. The reason is, it is one of the few push-rod V8s left with a stick. Pretty soon, everything will be DOHC and forced induction. A big ol' nasty V8 like this will be just legend soon. I expect a 4.0L DOHC twin-turbo to be the norm. Similarly, a Pratt & Whitney turbojet is the state of the art, but not nearly as beautiful to hear as a Double-Wasp, IMO.

Perhaps if you nudge that desire sideways into a CTS-V...?
I second that. It certainly made me pause and stare.
Look at those red VC's, and the little Canards on the airbox assemblies, and the perforated collectors. IDK why that looks so cool, but it looks so cool.

My next dream car would be Tesla Models S 85D. I test drove the Leaf and although that car is almost toy I instantly got the feel how nice the electric motor drive is. I can't imaging how nice it must be with Tesla's 500hp motors.
The only problem is Tesla's price tag. Not only it's expensive, it's also that with $80-90k you have so many super nice luxury cars to choose from, making it even harder to swallow the price of Model X.

I got a Q40.
No one wants a 50?
I test drove the P85D. Insane mode was awesome.
They encourage "informational" test drives. Meaning that you have no intention of actually purchasing one.

You definitely got a good point. A Tesla will likely save a lot on gas and maintenance and repair compared to similarly priced luxury cars. Electric car is definitely the future, I have no doubt about it.
I just test drove a Tesla S70D last weekend. The car was pretty nice, however not as good or awesome as I thought. The engine power is great, but kind of ironically it makes the car feel a bit too light on the road. Also the interior, as many people pointed out, just doesn't feel like a $80k car (the one I drove was actually optioned to the max at $90k). I mean, the interior is totally ok, but certainly not up to its $80k-90k price tag.
Back to my G37x, I actually feels pretty good about G37x. The interior is at least no inferior to Tesla, and its acceleration is no slower than S70D. Although G37x does not accelerate as smoothly as Tesla, it feels just right amount of firmness and heaviness on the road. Of course, the 12.4MPG on city block driving is killing my wallet.
One thing I really dig about Tesla though is the regenerative brake. Fantastic in every way.
Haven't test driven a Chevy Volt. Too bad after driving G37x Volt's 8 seconds 0-60 is not going to be easy to get used to I guess. If Volt can cut two seconds off from 0-60 then I'll be 90% pulled into it.

If I could swing a used Z06 that will be my next car. Likely I'll have to settle for a used Audi S6 or Caddy CTS-V. I know huge disappointment that would be. However, the new Z06 is a world class performer.
