Electrical Gremlin

Hello all,
Long time lurker here. Lots of great info! Having my first issue with the car, hope you can help. Here is my issue, unlock the doors, sit down press the start button and loose all power (had power when I sat down) nothing works, no windows, no door locks, just dead. About 5 minutes late,r power comes back, the car starts right up and runs fine. Happened to me twice today. This is the first ime it has happened. Only thing I noticed prior is a low battery in key fob warning. I would not think this would cause a total loss of power. This is on a 2010 Sedan Journey.
Thanks,
Tom

My suggestion would be to replace the key fob battery and see if you still have the same problem.

You can buy a new battery for less than 5 bucks at walmart.

Do the interior lights come on? What about the dash does it say "No Key" or is it completely off even when you try to press your cars ignition button? If that's the case test your battery or see the voltage it is putting out. It should put out no less than 12.4 volts.
Even 11.5v will work but still considered a low charge. Check the battery connection as well.

Again check your car's battery and connections if that's the case. No power at all could be plenty of things but your easiest fixes are battery replacement or tightening down a loose cable.

It'd be interesting to see what the voltage across the battery is when this condition occurs. Use a helper to watch the reading of a volt meter directly across the - + terminals of the battery when you(they) hit the start button.

I suppose its possible to have a battery with an intermittent bad cell which may explain the full shut down. The above test should point this out. Original battery?
