This doesn't fit at all with reality. My toolbox has been to every corner of my trunk, and tipped over as well.

The thought of a heavy toolbox slamming into the fenders from the inside... yikes!

You're right. I just traded in my G37 and bought a Silverado 2500 so I could carry jumper cables, tire repair kit, 12V air compressor, and some screwdrivers in my trunk.

Try this

1) Get a WeatherTech trunk liner. It has a high friction surface that I find greatly reduces objects sliding around
2) Get a tool bag like the DeWalt DG5511. It is very study and rigid, has grippers on the bottom, pockets galore, holds a lot and if it flips or slides will be less likely to damage your fender. It has a zipper on top, and allows you to load the heavy tools at the bottom to keep the center of gravity low. Keeping the weight low is very important to avoid flipping or tipping.
3) Put the tool bag long side against the back of the rear seat and in a corner as the highest force will likely be from emergency braking.

I don't often carry tools this way, but when i do, they stay put. I keep all kinds of stuff in my trunk in the winter for emergencies including a very heavy (about 25 pounds) Schumacher proseries 2212 jump starter pack. It is in a stiff fabric trunk box with grippy feet and it never slides around.

well all of that stuff can fit in the cargo net and not really move around pending size of the compressor.

I have a small Craftsman set that sits flat, and a small Eddy Bauer car tool kit in a small fabric bag that sits on top.
I got some nylon straps with velcro (from Home Depot) and cut some slits into the trunk liner and ran them through that so everything can sit nicely tucked away in the left corner. The strap velcros around the handle on the bag.

But then, I don't have an empty cargo net to use.

I've got velcro on order from Amazon. I should have it tomorrow. Then we'll see if my idea works.

I have a tool bag that doesn't slide around. even if you don't have the cargo net,it still should have the loop clips so you can use a bungee cord.

It seems that Velcro doesn't stick to the floor of the trunk. I have tried it on both the standard floor, and the floor-mat like pad in the trunk.

Velcro does however stick to the walls of the trunk pretty well. I am in the process of redesigning these straps and the location of the toolbox.
