What should my next mod be? *Poll*

Here are my pros and cons for these mods:

1. Short Tube Headers: Completes my exhaust and more "exotic" sound? Worried about possible rasp and loss of power. Needs retune for gains (if any)

2. 3.9 gears: Would wake up the car. Worried about issues with cruise control, vibrations, etc. Cost of parts and labor. Might want a CF driveshaft upgrade.

3. Throttle Body bored to 63mm: More HP and TQ. Needs retune. Not sure about any other cons.

Not sure about any other performance mod.

I would say headers/TP before TB boring. Lots of power to be had from getting rid of the cats.

Gears. Definitely gears.

To heck with Cruise Control... you live on an ISLAND, for crying out loud.

Do the OEM short tubes have cats in them? I already have RHFC in place of the OEM cats.

Then maybe I could complain about the cost of labor and parts? lol

I want this mod but it's one in which I can't quite visualize the end result. I also still feel lost when I read about the parts required. First I read about needing a 6MT driveshaft to prevent vibration and then I read that it is not needed.
I would like to know all the required parts plus the recommended ones, so I can know how much money I would need just for the parts.

The gears will give you the most noticeable increase In performance over any of the mods you have on your list. It has been proven that all you need to do is find a 6mt diff install the 3.90 gears and swap the flanges. There is no need for a 6mt rear driveshaft. I know because I have the same setup on my car and I have zero issues with vibration or loss of cruise control. If you have any questions, you can pm me. Good luck with your decision.

I totally understand. Either you take the time to learn what you need to learn, or you find yourself a trusted mechanic and take a leap of faith. And since you probably won't be doing the work yourself, having a trusted mechanic is already a priority... to where your only problem is how involved you get personally.

If it's advice you're looking for, I say get your new rims situated and take a break.

I would like to know what is being done and the possible issues that can arise. That is why I can't blindly trust the mechanic if I'm not sure that he knows 100% what is being done and possible issues.

I will take a break after the wheels for a while btw.

I'm going to go with gears, especially since I am extremely interested in hearing the install process after reading conkus's post.

Good choice, just don't expect not to lose cruise. That is still an unknown factor as to why some lose cruise and some do not. My theory is that if you have icc(intelligent cruise control) you will lose your cruise. I do not have that feature on my car and still have cruise. Just FYI.

Seems like the gear mod is the best performance mod.

Have you read through this thread a few times?

https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...oh-my-god.html

Since you have the S model, you shouldn't need a shorter driveshaft.
