What's wrong with long tube headers A? Why are shorties one the list of possibilities but not long tubes?

I already have the FI RHFC and don't want to be running catless.

Ok I see now. Makes sense.

Alfredo ever since I found your unique build thread with the before and after dynos evaluating the gains (or loss) of power from each and every mod. Seems pretty clear that you get much of your pleasure from the biggest performance enhancing mods. I think in this case you should go with the gears upgrade. Everyone that makes this leap seems to absolutely love it. I don't think you would be any different. You are correct in assuming that this would most likely lead you towards wanting (and buying lol) a CF driveshaft. You could make the argument that the funds to purchase and to have installed is enough to make you go the other way. But I wonder if you were to buy the headers AND the throttle bodies would you not be thinking of the gears once again 3-6 months down the line!?

With that I vote for the headers and the trottle bodies option. Complete your exhaust n start the saving, learning, and researching which mechanic to trust down the line to do your gears upgrade. You haven't done anything halfway so far buddy....what on Earth makes you think you'll start now?

I will actually end up doing all these mods. That's why the poll is for my next mod

As for the gears, maybe I should try the 3.6 gears first? I'm having a hard time visualizing how the acceleration changes. If someone with gears could do an acceleration video, that would be great.

Your intentions didn't fall on deaf ears. My vote was for the smaller of the two mods (price and effort wise) while you prepped some more on what exactly the gears mod would bring you and the details of how to get it done properly. You could also find more time to track down some experienced drivers that could walk you thru the pros n cons of this mod.

Not meaning to change subject but I am so excited I'm getting a wonderful deal on some vossens n tires this upcoming week!

Maybe I will do the TB before, if I get a good price on the porting job and retune.

Btw, my new wheels and tires will arrive this week

Gears. I got my 4.08 gears all bagged up waiting for me to drop them in. However i am doing the gears plus the TB mod at the same time.

AT or 6MT? Start a thread, chronicle the process and results.

If your worried about cost, just get a 6mt diff and swap the flanges. It will come with a 3.69 gear and would still be a great upgrade. The shop I had perform my install only charged me a tad over 200$ for the whole thing. FYI

Was thinking about that and upgrading the bushings.
Saw the video on the 3.916 gears, but I'm more interested in 40-100.
0-60 always has traction issues at launch, so it's hard to see improvement.

Why 3.916 gears? I thought 4.08 gears seem to be the common choice of guys on here when it comes to gears.

I guess Alfredo this is in a way helping me too, as you know, we both talked about headers and gears and all that stuff, and I think the best mod would be the gears, and now that you and other guys got me thinking, I probably should do gears before headers too, but why 3916 and not 4.08?!

You are 6 MT, so your final drive is 3.6.
7AT has 3.3 final drive.

A jump from 3.3 to 4.08 might be too much for the 7AT.
For 6MT, 3.6 to 4.08 is not too much.

Something more equivalent for the 7AT would be going from 3.3 to 3.916

Going from the 7at 3.3 gears to 3.69 is more like 6mt going to a 4.08. 3.90 a little more aggressive but, in my opinion, is the perfect gearing for the 7at.

Just FYI, if you can find a vert diff, it comes standard with a 3.90 gearset as well as lsd. There was one on eBay a little while back, may want to explore that option too.

Sorry to blow up your thread but that diff I spoke of is still for sale on eBay, it's from an 09 7at vert with lsd for 399$. It would be a direct swap, no need to swap flanges.
