Which radar mount allows easy removal of unit?

thinkingof getting a mirror mount or blendmount for 8500 x50 but i want to take it off when not driving especially at night in strange places, or in the summer heat. Do the mounts allow easy access to take off and put back on? i have simulated the laser false alert and i think the mirror mount is far enough away to stop false laser signals from the nav. Also with a hardwire; do any of you really use or miss the power cord mute button, or use the cord for confirmation when driving at night? its easy to just turn down the brightness some and go without the coiled cord. Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

I live in Dallas and have a 10 year old V1 that only comes down when the car is dropped off for service or when getting the interior done at a carwash. Heat slowly killing electronics is one of the biggest myths on the internet. Electronics almost always fail catastrophically--one big event, not slowly over time.

I use a blendmount. Why would you take the mount down and not just remove the radar detector from the mount?

Mine has been left in Blendmount for years. 106 degrees predicted today. Never had a problem. Pretty sure the mount allows the unit to be removed fairly quickly as it emulates the original suction cup style of locking mechanism.

I'll put in another plus for the Blendmount. I put one in both my vehicles about a year ago. I had read about it years earlier. I should have got them back then.

This is how I have mine set up, when I don't use it I leave the suction cups and take the radar off and tuck the wire into the sun visor. The way I have mine set up with the tint is so that you can't see it from the outside at all.

Cool! As long as it comes easily off the mirror mount its what i'm looking for! Got a large suction cup today (concept is good design is not quite there), and the detector fell off in my lap! I'll check out a mirror mount or blendmount and hardwire. Thanks All!
