Thinking about buying a g37 but thinking maybe a used G25 might serve me alittle better being that I don't need all the power and I don't need gps (I bought one already for my 07 altima). Has anyone drove one or owned one prior? A g25 that's is?

 

Don't need the power? Go buy a camry.

LOL, yeah, I was just giving you chit. The only reason I said it is because I know a lot of people who buy cars because of the prestige but most of them would be better off with a camry. I can't speak too much about the g25 because I've never been in the market for one, but I'm sure someone here will have some insight towards it. Good luck.

+1 for a Camry. Why not just get an Altima if you like the style. Most who don't know any better mistake the G37 for an Altima anyhow.

 

I've driven the G25. It's a nice car and will serve you well if you're not looking for crazy power. For me personally, it was a little bit underpowered.

I don't how that happens but I own a 07 altima it's nice but goin from a 98 maxima to 07 altima drags man. I have no power or much comfort just good fuel economy G25 might just that right middle ground

 

The G25 is still RWD, so the driving dynamics are close to the standard G37 Journey. I had driven the G25 on several occasions as a loaner and forgot that it wasn't a Base Journey. Not as powerful, but for everyday driving, I doubt many would notice the difference outside of the enthusiast crowd. Where the G25 missed the mark is that the MPG difference was so minor, that it almost made little sense to buy one over the standard G37 Journey. I think Infiniti was targeting the IS250 buyer (I see these on the road 10:1 compared to the IS350), but they somewhat missed the mark. Maybe with the new turbocharged Merc engine, they can improve the fuel economy in the base model, then offer the 3.7 liter as performance option.

 

Well, a 4 cylinder engine has to consume roughly the same amount of fuel to produce the amount of "work" that 6 cylinder engines produces. Without an increase in the Fuel / Air mixture pressure MPG, will always be pretty close if not the same. Thats why my neighbors 6 cylinder F150 gets the same fuel economy (roughly) as my V8 F150 of the same make and model. +1 for what Socketz said, Although I hate the idea, the 2.0T Merc. engine could be the next best thing for our former "4DSC" in it's transition to a commuter box.

 

It's a six, isn't it? The worst part to me- the fuel efficiency is barely any better than the 37. Way less power and no fuel economy gain = fail. Which is exactly how the market treated the G25

 

The 2.5L is a six cylinder? Jesus, those cylinders must be the size of china cups.

Had a G25x as a loaner for a few days.. Honestly it was fun to wind the engine out to it's full potential without hitting speeds that would land you in jail if it was the big boy. I get the appeal of cars like that.. Good handling, dare I say better than mine when it was stock. It probably weighs less than the 37 but marginally. If it was a smaller lighter car it would make total sense to have that particular engine in it, but the V36 platform was meant for the bigger engine.

 

I drove it, great car and enough power for a practical daily driver. There are more economic options out there if that's what you're after.
