X Sedan Catback Exhaust Options

I've been reading countless threads and it seems there aren't really any CBE systems that will bolt right up without modification. Questions. Are there any good solutions that are easy to modify or should I just go to my exhaust shop and have them fabricate a system for me? The later would be cheaper. Just curious what my options are.

Top Speed Pro 1s are a Y-back setup so they bolt right up. Here's a big thread w/ a few pics on an AWD. I have one of the first Sedan sets and I've been very happy w/ it, they have slightly smaller tips now but other than that they should be very similar, and the sound is very good IMO.

I posted some sound clips in that thread too, just browse a bit and you should come across them.

You could buy my Invidia exhaust , all it requires is some cutting, flipping pipes around and welding, I don't think it would be a difficult task for an exhaust shop neither an expensive one.

Take a look at this thread what it looks like before and after the modification.

Ive had stillen and tanabe, now I am running Top Speed. Best bang for your buck. Otherwise, go with a muffler delete. Full catbacks arent worth the price.

Rocking the muffler delete Here and loving it! $150 is what it cost me to go with 2.25" (up from factory 1.75") straight pipe from the resonators. I will warn you that it is a lot louder at WOT than most exhausts though. However at cruising speed it isn't overly obnoxious.

Wouldn't top speed be considered an axle back?

Available for the x sedan is GThaus, fast intentions, ark. Probably more that I'm leaving out.

It's unique in that it's a Y-back, has the resonated midpipes, muffler cans and tips.

What's weird is that they sell a midpipe, if they paired it wih the y back for say an extra $100 as opposed to the $200 or $220 that it cost seperate they'd probably sell more units.

Maybe they tried their midpipe with the combination and it didn't yield the results they were hoping to see?

If you go here: JIC Ti - 80mm OK for N/A? - MY350Z.COM Forums

And scroll down to Tony's (he's pretty much considered the resident expert on this subject) post on 06-12-2009, 01:00 PM, you will see where during his testing, he noticed that smaller diameter pipes near the engine increase the velocity of the shockwave (a large positive pressure at the exhaust wave front, followed by a vacuum) and thereby increasing the effect of scavenging (often confused with backpressure as the positive aspect related to larger diameter tubing)

Now assume that per some measurements taken by other users: https://www.myg37.com/forums/intake-...-mid-pipe.html

That the OEM catylitc converter's inner diameter is approximately 2.25" on the inlet/ingress side while 2.0" on the outlet/egress. While I can't seem to find any confirmed measurements of the stock y-pipe, I have seen a few posts where users state the outlet is as small as 1.75", which would match the cat proportions to some degree.

it's possible they misinterpreted the results of the scavenging when swapping out their y-pipe and inturn decided to sell the system as a midpipe/axleback combo because as a result of the larger diameter tubing after the midpipe compliments the stock cat/y-pipe setup well enough to provide a little more aural satisfaction and adds a little to the seat of the pants effect which helps sell exhausts and requires little extra in the way of extended R&D.

Top Speed intrigues me as has Invidia's exhaust. i just bought a set of FI RHFCs in the private classifieds here so I'd be looking for something to complement that without being overly obnoxious and "drony". I'm looking for sound at start up with accelerating sounds with increased throttle input. I don't want excessive cabin drone. I can bare some though. ARk is too expensive for a catback so is Fast Intentions (even though quality of both is awesome). $1000.00 or less is what I'm looking for. I've considered having a custom catback installed as I did with my last car a 4th gen altima v6 6 speed. Has racingline y-pipe and full 2.5" custom catback with K&N typhoon intake and loved the sound. The G will sound better, just need to figure out the best way to get there.
