Thinking of selling the G sedan...
I formerly owned a cts, and spent 3 weeks in various ATS 2.0 and 3.6 loaners which I thoroughly "tested". I have also owned 2 bmw's. I gave my original opinion based on that experience, to assist the OP. When that opinion was mocked I provided the opinion of "professionals".
Your assistance is not needed, but thanks.

There where a variety of problems with my cts. The three weeks was over the course of almost a year, to replace or repair wheel hubs, coil packs, and a leaking trunk and sunroof. The car had problems shortly after purchase, so I would take loaners on work trips for several days and over weekends and the dealer didn't care as long as I didn't affect their customer service rating.

This. The ATS 2.0 is a $30K car with a $15K emblem.
Basically, the entire Cadillac brand is a scam. Has been for decades. Occasionally, something comes along that's unique and special (CTS-V, Allante), but overall buying a Cadillac is a tax on posers without taste or good judgement.

I'm a multiple-infiniti-Nissan owner that wanted to give an American brand a go. In my case I got a lemon. Doesn't make me a poseur. I certainly didn't buy a Caddy for the brand prestige, because I don't think there is much.
Yep. It's a vague generalization that doesn't apply to you.
Every now and then I think I'd like to try something US domestic again, but when I explore those options, I come away unimpressed. 15 years ago, Caddy embarked on this effort to be more than a gussied up Chevy. In some ways, they've done so, but mostly it's just more of the same. IMO.

I also clearly remember the Chevy Citation that Caddy was selling as the Cimmeron. I'm old... LOL.
Like it was yesterday. I recall driving down to that brand new Saturn dealership, all excited to see this new breed of cars... only to have a SMH moment at the junk they were peddling.

Cadillac has had a few bright spots, notably the 1st and 2nd generation CTS-V. Much as I want to want one, I keep coming back to 556 horsepower is just too much for a daily driver.

How about the Catera? The Caddy that zigs. Worst marketing tagline ever.
An-n-n-n-d I've whored the **** out of this thread. My apologies. Unsubbing now.
Just for an FYI to clear the air, the only Cadillacs currently made that are based on existing Chevrolet products are the Escalade (Tahoe/Suburban) and the XTS (2014+ Impala). The XTS will however, be gone within the next 2 years once Cadillac unveils its new flagship, which the XTS was a stopgap for. The ATS, CTS and upcoming LTS (XTS replacement) are all their own individual, RWD platforms that are incredibly light with near perfect weight distributions.
I absolutely LOVE the ATS and CTS (the new ones). The only thing that deters me is the damn CUE system. It isn't bad, I just refuse to buy a car with a touch screen. Or if I did it would be brand new so I could bitch about it being slow. But as far as dynamics go, the ATS and CTS are at the top of their class, if not the best. They drive just... amazing. So long as you get the RWD versions. Although the AWD versions are much more planted than AWD Gs and Ms so it is less annoying when you see one on the road.

Thanks all for the feedback and comments, keep 'em coming. I'm still trying to factor in all potential costs. Like many of you had said, how important to me is the cost of gas and also the practicality. i would probably have to check out other cars as well and see what i would prefer. Also, i would have to factor in how much I would be able to sell my car for. Of course I would be hoping to sell in the mid 20's, but taking a quick glance at the f/s section, there are some big variance in selling prices.
hmmm... still have to think some more about it.

Very happy with my Infiniti, the right blend of performance, value, luxury and reliability.
Now back to the regularly scheduled program.

I'm not a Cadillac fan, in fact the last year with the recall and the GM b.s. has turned me off to everything GM. I am way past getting 9.5/10 on the road...too many tragedies from those who tried.

You got me, Lego.
