New windshield, does this gasket look odd
were's that gap? On the sides or the top? Either way looks wrong??
Are the side gaskets at the windshield gapped also or is that a shadow?

The gap is too wide. I had to get my windshield redone a second time because of this. I had the guy push up against the windshield to close the gap. I'll take pictures for you.
I got mine done at satelite from Saugus, ma.

I sent you a PM with my contact information. If you have a chance I wanted to ask you some questions, I have been trying to explain to my insurance/ glass company all day it was done incorrectly

The glass company could possibly scrape off the old glue on the glass and reapply the windshield but I wouldn't recommend that since the adhesive is very difficult to scrape off.
You should also make sure that the VIN number is visible through the windshield. Sometimes since your gap is too wide, (thus your windshield is sitting lower) the VIN number is partially covered by the windshield.
I'll clarify what safelite did the second time. The technician took off my already new windshield using the "safelite-proprietary" scratch free wire adhesive cutter, and replaced it with another BRAND NEW windshield and reapplied new adhesive after scraping off old adhesive from the car. During the install, as he was placing the glass onto my car, he placed it higher up and also pushed it upwards to make sure the gap wasn't there after he put it on. The urethane adhesive dries pretty quickly so you only have a little bit of time to readjust the windshield before it permanently sets.
Also, can you take a picture of your pillar molding on the side of the windshield? I can't be sure, but it looks like the molding for the pillars isn't on right, like the molding is not sitting flush with the windshield and there is a gap there too.

Since the glass is aftermarket and never actually comes out perfectly flush with the body, most of it is eyeballing. It depends on the installer. Meticulous installers will try to fit it as perfectly as they can while others will just place the windshield on without making sure the edges are flush with body. As long as the urethane adhesive is applied without any gaps, there will be no leakage into the cabin even if the glass is installed crooked.
Installing windshields isn't that difficult. You just apply urethane adhesive on the car where the new windshield will sit on and then just place the glass on. That is why there is a difference between different installers in terms of how the glass sits on the body.

After reading this I will take a picture of my original windshield fit, before I bring the car in to have a new one put in. I will give them the picture and tell them that is how I want the new w/s to be positioned
