Interesting article on sophisticated technology in the near future. I wonder if anyone is considering how much driver skills will be eroded in the future with much of the population relying on technology rather than their own judgement and skill? Will we lose more of the joy of driving?
Certainly will
In 2011 when I began my car search, the market was already fairly light. Admittedly, I narrowed down my options greatly by wanting 4DR with an manual trans, but it's no secret that cars, even ones marketed as sporty, are getting toned down in favor of comfort and convenience. By the time I'm ready to replace the G, my options will probably me so limited that I'll be inclined to keep it for longer than intended (though my criteria will likely be different as well).
By no means is the G sedan the epitome of performance, or even a sports sedan, but I think it is one of the last of a dying breed.
That said, I'm sure things like on board wifi will become just as commonplace as smart phones and living without it will get increasingly inconvenient.
Last point is huge, using public transportation (when available/well-operated i.e. in the city) is too convenient to pass up IMO.
PS anyone else check out qualcomm stock?
