Car Squeaking, WD40 Question
Car Squeaking, WD40 Question
So my center console area has started squeaking again, probably because the cold weather. I was wondering if I sprayed WD40 all over the aluminum trim would that help cure it or maybe ruin the trim? Help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
WD40 is not for the interior parts of you car. Try some white lithium grease in a spray can. PB blaster makes some. And spray it where there's contact and wipe off the excess on the face of the trim.
Oh ok, thank you! And I'm guess that I shouldn't get it on the leather next to the aluminum trim?
Houdini is another great option. I prefer it over white lithium. Houdini won't gum up and won't conduct electronics. You can also call it vulgar names, that usually works best.
The Googles just tells me about some creepy looking Hungarian guy who did card tricks like 100 years ago. Or this badass rap trio back in the day. How is this related to lubrication?

Was originally designed for locksmith's. Great stuff and smells good! I would still avoid spraying the leather.
I would imagine that Hungarian guy would be the best fix.

From amazon: Houdini lock spray is the premier, professional lock lube used by and recommended by locksmiths everywhere. Houdini quickly penetrates, cleans and lubricates without introducing gummy petroleum or graphite contaminates. Houdini is safe around electric product and switches. It does not conduct electricity. Highly recommended in sub zero applications to help free up frozen locks and machine parts. Use it on hinges, bearings, sliding doors - anything you can imagine and you will be delighted with the results!
You could try the chemical free method and simply turn up the radio
The console of my 07x would occasionally creak during the winter. I would (partly) shove my winter gloves in the space between the passenger seat and console and the creaking stopped.
