Question Hmm my issues magically disappeared once the car has been at the dealership

So.. I had my car in service for an oil change, cruise control ( 9 out of 10 times it wouldn't set) , as well as whining noise from power steering andwindshield cowl noise since thursday morning... they couldn't get it going on thursday at all due to the system being down all day.. fine they got it all up and running the next day, friday... they couldn't duplicate cruise control problem as well as the whining power steering noise neither the windshield cowl... was told they will probably have to keep it till further notice today... so I spoke to my service advisor today, and was told that 3 different shop technicians with several years of experience including a shop foreman drove the car trying to duplicate my two main concerns when leaving the car for service ( cruise control and power steering whining noise) and they haven't supposedly been able to duplicate and verify those two issues... and I'm just clueless, I mean has the cruise control magically started working all fine and the noise went away?

They fixed my windshield cowl noise, did the oil change but haven't been able to verify the other main concerns... so I was told to come in tomorrow morning and take the car for a spin with a technician and try to duplicate those 2 issues that I have, but it just seems so weird to me... had been having issues with CC for like 3 months and the noise has been just getting worse for a while now ( even my brother noticed the weird feel in steering wheel and noise even with my Berk HFCs and Invidia CBE the weekend prior to last one) and NOW Suddenly those 2 can't be duplicated?

My cruise control was being all funny because when I installed my DBALL for remote start, the brake switch sensor wasn't seated correctly. It worked enough to start the car but wouldn't set the CC. Removed it and reinstalled and no problems since. The whine from power steering could be a fluid related issue. Have you checked out power steering fluid?

well I told them that I had a brake booster replaced before.. where it suddenly out of nowhere just went to **** on me , and I guess since then the CC wouldn't work properly, but my service advisor said he has a shop foreman who has been working there for 25 years and can build these cars...(yet I find it weird that there is no issue with any of the 2 now) and I tested it once or maybe twice to pull my brake pedal up with my left foot while driving and tried to set CC and it worked so it might be an issue with the brake sensor switch or something... but surprisingly they say they can't duplicate the issue with CC yes that was the first thing I have done, checked the power steering fluid and it was at the max. line so that's definitely not the fluid... bahh I'm gonna head up there tomorrow morning and take a technician for a spin, let's see if now I can even duplicate those, no biggie just a 40 minute drive

It's the typical thing with cars and duplicating noises - I've been there done that with my Acura I had a few years back. Starter was kicking and it would leave me stranded but NEVER when it was at the dealership, OF COURSE.

When you hear the whining noise, have someone turn your wheel for you and record the noise with a video. That will help them diagnose it even if they can't reproduce.

yeah that could be done I mean I could record it myself I guess because it doesn't need to be driven to reproduce it... just as long as the engine is running... but then there's the issue with the CC we'll see maybe my G only shows its true color only when I am driving it

Maybe the PS fluid just needs to be changed out. I havent done mine yet but defintely doing it since I am at 55k on the clock. Even though the PS level might be fine, the fluid itself thins out over time from constant use. Its just a thought.

Yeah I just got back from the dealership... took the car for a spin with a technician and I couldn't really hear the power steering noise when he was driving it and the cruise control worked fine... so I took the car back and as soon as I got on the highway it wouldn't work so my guess is after I had to brake couple times at the traffic lights etc , the brake switch must have detected it as the brake pedal wasn't all the way out and therefore the CC wouldn't set and when I pushed it upwards with my left foot I successfully got it to set... and I started hearing the PS whining noise back again... I'm gonna take it back to the dealership again in couple days...

I'm gonna suggest them that maybe the PS fluid just needs to be changed out.

it was more like a popping noise I guess on some pavement joints and uneven surfaces.. but they fixed that so that's no longer my concern
