This 3M vinyl "CF" wrap is not making me happy. The adhesive simply doesn't adhere well, which is kind of the whole point of adhesive, so that's a fail. At this point, it's proof-of-concept, though. And the look is interesting, although annoyingly flawed.
Experimenting with wrapping the vertical curvy piece in front of the engine bay panels for the battery and bake MC. Turns out those pieces come completely apart. I'll take pics another time... late. Cold out. Hungry.
And a little embarrassed at my first attempt.
Here, this...
That whole piece comes apart, also try the some 3M adhesion primer
Wrapping that piece without disassembling it would be a serious act of frustration. So yeah, I know it all comes apart pretty easily. And Hexotic clued me into adhesion promoter this the weekend over in my progress thread, so I took another pass at the project, finishing both pieces yesterday.
Very, very pleased with the results. Thanks for the advice, Fat Sac. I learned something this weekend, about Adhesion Promoter.
That's enough. Typically not a fan of the CF look, this project notwithstanding.
Fully agree, there is a fine line between classy touch and all out rice.... this of course is my personal opinion and I do not want to start a large debate with those who think otherwise
It fits amazingly, but the camera hole being so deep inside, the angle of view is poop. I'm cutting into it and will redo some fiberglass work, paint, then we'll see lol. If not my cousin will end up with it on his G. For now I'll try that cheap cf spoiler. Might swap back and forth haha
Yup, completely understand. I actually prefer the CF look too, which is the reason I pulled the AutokitsX spoiler in favor of one from Carbon Signal.

This little project of yours turned out great, Andy! Copy or not you have to be very happy with how this turned out for just a $12 investment.
Got my clamps in, but of course I miscalculated the size of the clamps around the air filters... Turned out to be the same as the throttle body ones. Going to wait till those 2 new clamps come in before I go ahead with taking the strut bar off. Colour is perfect though lol. Pardon the potato quality photo, my camera sucks in the dim light of the underground parking garage.
Sure does look like a color match for your other blue.
At the moment, I'm d1cking around with the 2.5" clamps in red, to hold my R2C filters inside their heat shield. In order to make that work, I had to get out the razor blade and cut another 2-3mm of clearance in the rubber grove on the neck of the filters.
I have to say, first impressions... I'm not liking the red. At least, not in my engine bay. I think I'll return them for black.
Posted this in a thread that I'm sure would get less traffic than this one so I figured I'd post it here too sorry if thats a forum faux pas. So some D-bag swiped my car in a parking lot about a month ago when leaving. Didn't leave a note didn't say anything and was gone by time I got back. Anyone heard of a company that sells color matching paint or am I going to have to get the bumper painted at a shop (which is what I fear I'll have to do). Im sure I can buff out the other imperfections but obviously not where the paint is missing. Thanks!
