That thread was a huge help to me. I would definitely suggest using the HPS hoses. I also recently added the Z1 PCV hoses which I wish I would've done from the start.

Three caps are outdated, actually. Washer, rad overflow and PS caps.

But that's so sweet you would notice. Stalker.

Okay, LOL.... How does the R2C intake compare to the K&N Typhoons? They seem awfully similar, but the MAF sensor looks closer to the filters with the R2C intake. Bromance, Jesus...... Thats some leftist crap if ever.

I was playing, hence the rolling eyes! Seems there are a lot of "Nu" words to be added to the American English vocabulary.

Compare in what sense? I suspect performance-wise, they are identical. That is to say, mostly noise makers until you get tuned. In terms of appearance, however... While admittedly a subjective evaluation, R2C wins that compare hands down.

You know, if there is any difference, I'd guess that to be in the pop charger, not the midpipe design. I've always wondered if I would like a different filter element than R2C's. Like Apex-i.

A tuner I spoke with fed me a line about the K&N not giving as big of gains as other intakes due to it not really being a CAI..... I understand that to a point, but is there any such thing as a CAI in S. Florida? The air coming off the road is a nice 100+degrees most of the year. I was just a little curious about the difference between the two. It seems more people have the R2C's. Both intakes have the heatshield it looks like, so hot engine air being drawn through should be kept down.

My feeling is that you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you're chasing performance, a so-called short ram intake is not the place to get it. If there is a difference between performance gains between K&N and R2C, it is negligible.

You want horsepower? Get long tube intakes. There's little point in discussing performance for shorties since even the best shortie is not as good as a long tube. That being said, I agree that the R2C looks much better than the typhoons.

Also, a cold air intake is simply relative. A short intake pulls air from the engine bay, which is always hotter than the air outside. Until you design a heat shield that completely seals against the inner surfaces of the bay and seals hard enough to only draw air through the intake port, you'll be pulling hotter air than a "cold" air intake can pull by virtue of it being completely outside.

Can you elaborate on the benifits of a long tube vs. shorties? I could see your point if the long tubes acted as a ram air intake or if they were shaped just so to create a venturi effect to move air quicker into the intake manifold. I'm interested in this.

I'm not saying those effects don't exist, I'm taking straight temperature here. Let's make a few assumptions, namely, the air outside the engine bay is always colder (i.e denser) than the air inside the engine bay. You want *denser* air, not *more*. There is a difference. You engine displacement is only ever 3.7 liters. Luckily, air is compressible, meaning 3.7 liters doesn't always refer to the same mass. A short tube intake pulls at least some hot air from the engine bay. Maybe it's 50%, likely it's even more. A long tube intake exits the engine bay and pulls air from outside, which we already established is cooler. 50% cold and 50% hot is not going to be as dense as 100% cold, obviously. This means you get more cold air from long tube intakes, more cold air means my 3.7 liters is packing more of a punch because my tuner is free to up the amount of fuel injected to take advantage of the increased *mass* of air.

Any actual "ram air" effects are negligible on this car, IMO. Have you SEEN how small the intake ports are where your stock air boxes used to seal up? That's maybe 10sq in, and if you notice, the front of your filter is plastic. The air would have to get rammed in and make a 90deg turn to get into the intake. I don't buy that, at least, not that the "ram air" effect is specific to the shortie and not to all intakes in general.
