Okay let me rewind here a bit....after I reinstalled the MAP sensor I disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes. Reconnected the battery terminal and voila. I passed smog today and no cel yet, keeping my fingers crossed.

Now i haven't even touched the calipers yet but got new rotors + pads. Ayy..
I had my calipers (non akebono) wire brushed (to get rid of the rust that was starting to appear on them) and had them sprayed with caliper paint (to prevent further rust). The shop only had black, red, and yellow, I went for the red, although I kind of regret not going black.

Can you post pictures please? I've only seen aftermarket and sport ones in different colors on the G's.
I actually purchased the spray paint and a shiny finish from vht and cleaning them myself is not a problem.

I've heard mixed results with people using vht paint. Here's a bad pic with lots of glare lol. I'll have to dig and see if I have any shots with good lighting.

EDIT: Ok, heres another terribly lit photo that might give a better idea.

(sad) Do you think I should go ahead and swap the oil this Spring anyway, in keeping with the recommended 30K interval? Or can I wait another year and another 5k miles? Or is it the time elapsed that's really the determining factor, like brake fluid? The gear oil was $33 shipped from Amazon, and I figure my mechanic would want $50, because I'm not going to DIY the fluid swap.

So should I put it off, or do it this year anyway?
I would recommend you just replace it if the cost will be $33 + $50. My butt dyno notices the difference when I have fresh diff fluid.

Sounds like you got quite lucky. My SMOG guy always uses a mirror to check the CAT's, so I finally got tired of paying extra to pass SMOG and just pulled the BERK CAT's. Of course that SMOG sticker on my GTM Stage II "intake" definitely helps.

Thankfully I've never had that happen, but I can imagine it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Lookin' good, Sean. Tony really does some amazing work! Looks like your ready to join Carbon Fiber Anonymous as well.

Oh, and that boot fitment looks pretty good to me. I used the Redline boot to cover up the entire AT shifter surround, which saved me about $100 in extra CF work from Tony.

Thanks, Zoster! Yeah, I should be at AutoCon with 5 or 6 other guys from my team.

He did take a good look under my car using a flashlight. I thought I was toast but he came back up and said everything looks good lol so I guess you can say I got lucky.

I've been in Boston since sunday, never seen so many G35/37x's, not a single RWD.

In Boston, that makes sense. It always surprises me how many Xs there are in (non snowy) parts of California...

When I was shopping for my G, it seemed like the journey X's were cheaper than the journey RWD. I think that's the only reason I see X's in TX.

There was no Journey X.
  • Journey, badged as G37 and G37S
  • AWD, badged as G37x and G37xS
  • 6MT, badged as G37S

Here in the Northeast, I'd say 99% of the G Sedans are AWD. My local dealership only took AWD Sedans in stock. If you wanted RWD, you had to order it.
