Weird colored bump on windshield wiper??

Has anyone ever seen a yellow colored round bump on their windshield wiper?? See attached picture. I had this strange looking colored bump on both the drivers side and passenger side wipers. The other picture is after I scraped off the bump with a razor blade from the drivers side. I couldn't see any function for the bump and didn't like the ugly color so I just scraped it off pretty easily. It scraped off into a white plastic like powder. Before I do the passenger side.. what am I missing here? Would you guys mind having a close look at your own wipers and let me know if you have these weird colored bumps. The wipers were installed as replacements by the dealer after my car was 1 year old. I think the color occurred after some time. Its a 2011 G37S.

It is a wear indicator. I forget the color transition...but I'm guessing when it turns yellow it is time to change the wiper blades. It changes color due to a variety of situations - age, time in sun, etc.

Oh - and it is a pet peeve of mine - but get back to the OEM look asap! I'm not a fan of that plastic chunk on top of the wiper. But...that's just me...

Interesting .. never seen that before.

I imagine it's pointless since most people replace the blades when they are no longer effective?

Thanks. I guess we learn something new every day. I'm due for new wipers since the color is yellow. Seems most others on here must be using different wipers than these.
