inspection items for 60K service

Hello,
I am going to a dealer to perform requited services for 60k miles. I did some required items from 60K maintenance manual myself, I replaced engine air filter and in-cabin micro filter. I will ask them to replace engine oil and filter and Replace engine coolant, they are listed as required services for 60k for my car (g37s manual transmission).

The list of tasks for the car with manual transmission also have inspection items for 60K and this list is larger then normal service inspection. It asks for instance to inspect brake lines & cables, differential oil, manual transmission oil, Fuel Line /connectors, fuel tank vapor vent system hoses.

I am going to ask them to perform these extra inspections listed in the manual for 60K. Are these inspections free of charge or should I expect them to charge for them? What is your experience with Infiniti dealers?

thank you in advance for your replies

If you haven't done so already you should change out your diff and gearbox fluids. Throw a new belt on too. Also if your brake and clutch fluids are original do those too.

As for inspections the dealer may do those cursory inspections as part of the oil change. If you ask for them as part of a 60k package service you will pay through the nose at the dealer.

Best just to take your car to a trusted mechanic who will do all those for a flat rate. That will be much cheaper then a package at the dealer. Most of those are easy DIY. Especially the clutch and power steering fluids. An independent shop could do coolant and brake fluid and driveline fluids for $250 or so. Another $50 for the belt. Dealer would be 2 or 3 times that.

Thank you for your response! I have one question. What is it gearbox fluids? I have found it in the manual (I have 2009 g37s). Is it called differently in the manual?

Yeah, manual transmission fluid = gearbox fluid (slang). Basically, change out all fluids if they have not already been done. Brake, clutch, pwr steering, coolant, differential and transmission. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Then replace the drive belt while your at it.

I have one more question. I think I will follow your advice and go to an independent mechanic. I am new to the area, I moved recently. I found a mechanic with a good reviews on yelp.com. If I go there and I ask them to replace all fluids and driving belt, where will he get a belt? Just curious how does it usually work, will he get a third party belt or order Nissan one?
thanks!

They will most likely get an aftermarket belt from an auto parts supplier. Gates, Dayco or something like that, which are OE replacement belts. totally OK to use either. I just got a Dayco belt and will do it soon, even though I'm only at 38k miles.

If you want to use OEM stuff, either go to your local dealer parts department and buy the parts from them and then have your mechanic do the labour, or go online to an OEM supplier and buy from them. I have done this many times if I don't feel like doing the labour myself. I'm still picky about what parts are being used so I buy them myself. Online if I have the time since one can save so much money buying online.

The only items on your list I might stick to OEM would be the transmission fluid and perhaps diff fluid. I used Amsoil for those fluids but lots of guys stay with OEM fluids for those parts. You don't need to use OEM fluids for the other items I listed, and the belt doesn't matter.

Just so you know, power steering fluid is actually just automatic transmission fluid in our cars. I know because I just went to the local Nissan dealer to buy some pwr strg fluid and they sold me auto trans fluid. I asked if they had pwr strg fluid and they said no, auto trans fluid is all that they use. The owners manual calls for Nissan auto trans fluid as well. Its cheap from the dealer, like $4 or so and you need 2 quarts.
