guys question is the outside trim of the car made out of steel, aluminum or chrome?

called dealership those meat heads don't know nothing... what Im
trying to do is polish and or remove scratches (light scratches) I hear maybe sanding it with a light paper maybe 1500 grit or so then using some sort silver polish and a buffer wil do the trick, what you huys suggest.

Btw i am referring trim by window frames

 

It is chrome. I wouldn't sand it down just in case you might remove the chrome. Best 2 things to do is have chrome shiner and apply it or vynil it.
