Buying used from dealer without pre-purchase inspection?

I've never purchased a used vehicle before, or I should say a used vehicle worthy of an inspection. How do you guys wing this? My schedule is always tight, and most mechanics are closed on weekends. Most vehicles I look at are at least 2 hours away. I could take a day off work but I'm just to see how you guys normally do this (if at all).

PS, is there anything I should specific look for in a used G? Common issues that normally appear in a G, like bad leather, creaks, drivetrain issues etc etc.

Thanks!

Aside from the cosmetic things that you could easily see, if you are at an Infiniti dealer you could ask for a maintenance history. They should be able to pull it up in their system. If it is CPO that is usually reassurance that it has had all the maintenance recommended.

Most I find are not CPO, and some even use the "Could be CPO but we'll charge you for it" sales tactic as well.

Has anyone not had a mechanic check out a dealer car? Some how it just erks me knowing the engine could come up low on a compression test or something and I'd never know.

if its from Bob smiths auto, I would take it to a shop.

if its from an Infiniti dealer, I wouldnt worry to much.

I didnt buy into the CPO thing. You get a warranty but you are pretty much paying for it in the price of the car.

Find a reputable business that does pre purchase inspections for used vehicles in the area where you want to buy. Once you have selected one that you are seriously interested in purchasing, pay them to thoroughly inspect the vehicle. It does not matter if its from an individual, used car lot, or a CPO vehicle at an Infiniti dealership. Costs between $100-$175.
