2012 G37S Clutch Clunk
2012 G37S Clutch Clunk
Hi Guys, looking for some help.
I purchased a 2012 G37S Sedan (sold my 08 G37 S coupe). After about 3500 miles I was having issues with my clutch. Upon releasing the clutch, at the last inch before removing my foot, there is a clunk from the pedal - a distinct noise, almost a pop. It feels like it is "catching" at the top. There is feedback in the pedal. So I brought it to the dealership and they replaced the clutch pedal assembly. Well, about 3500 miles later, I have the same issue.
The mechanics explained to me that the spring and clutch mechanism is different in the 2012 sedan compared to my 08 coupe. They told me to drive around a few more days to see if it goes away. Needless to say now when I depress the clutch it makes a crunch noise and when I release the clutch at the top it pops.
Unfortunately since there aren't many G 37 Sedan 6MT's they aren't sure what the issue is. I am going to try a different dealership. Was hoping someone out there experienced a similar issue. Thanks.

2012 here with just shy of 6K miles. No crunch or clunk here. Pedal stroke is as smooth as it was when I brought the car home a year ago.
Check the helper spring as posted above. In fact, remove the helper spring to see if the crunch is still there. If it is, it's something else in the system. Do you get this sensation with the car off when modulating the pedal?
To remove the spring, just remove the C clip on the lower clevis, depress the pedal and remove spring (while depressed). There are more indepth threads about this, but that's the gist of it.
You'll have a bit more play with the spring out, but the general pedal action should be smooth.

no crunchy
2011 G37s here. My clutch makes no sound when depressing and releasing. Also Very smooth, no feedback. You have an issue. Depending on the state you live in, there are consumer protection laws for this type of thing. If you have your car in for service 3 times for this while under 20k miles, then you likely have a good case for a repurchase.
My G had issues with syncros and transmission was replaced twice in first year of ownership.
Same situation as you, I took it in again after they replaced trans. Dealer told me nothing wrong, took it back again and this.time they found issue and fixed.
Keep taking the car back to the dealer and complain.

My 2011 Sedan 6MT is right as rain so far, (knock on wood), with 10K miles on the clock. (I also have Jsolo's helper spring swap... love it!) However, when I picked up the car earlier in the year, one of the salesmen was proudly showing me his 2010 6MT Sedan, and as I sat in the car I felt exactly what you're describing: a not-so-smooth feel and strange crunchy noise to the pedal, and a bit of a hitch at the top. I asked him what was wrong with his clutch, and he just looked at me weird and said, "Nothing, why?"
I think your problem is real. Don't give in to a Service Department that just wants you to go away.

I don't know where you are in NJ but if you are near West Long Branch ask for Todd in service and request Adam to look at your car. (732-389-1200)
I'm on my second G from Circle Infiniti and I've been very happy with their sales and service.
