Someone broke into my car, auto glass question

Hi, folks,
Unfortunately, someone broke into my car and stole my wife's makeup bag from the back deck. The thief broke the passenger side rear door quarter glass, the one that looks triangle and can't be opened.

Now, i need to replace it. How much do you think is a fair price? I'm willing to go to the store as mobile service is a little more expensive. The location is San Gabriel Valley of Southern California.

If you have experience with auto glass replacement, please provide some inputs.

Thanks!
Alex

That's why I don't leave anything in my car that I can't live without. I always leave everything in the trunk.

The best thing I can suggest is call around bad just get some quotes.

Depending on your insurance coverage you may have a claim.

That's all they took was a make up bag? If cost of replacing the window is close to what your deductible is, I would just pay for it out of pocket and leave your insurance out of it.

Bummer man. My civic, which had nothing in it except for a not-very-fancy head unit to replace the am-fm radio it came with got broken into 5 times in the wonderful city of Rochester. I feel your pain.

Usually, vandalism can't lead to an increase in your insurance rates (unless things have changed) so.....claim it. Unless it's within or a little over deductible. Most glass shops (and auto body too) give very different quotes for insurance vs non-ins. jobs.

no one makes the quarter window glass besides infiniti. you're going to have to go to the dealer.

I don't usually leave stuff in sight in my parked car, too many of this story where I live. Just this time, we were in a hurry and didn't know we left the makeup bag in sight. Lesson learned!

Just some updates FYI, I called around, asked around, and looked around. eventually settled for a local family owned Auto Glass store, the quoted and charged $160 to install a new piece of after-market quarter glass yesterday afternoon. It started raining here last nite, so I'm happy.

Safelite, a much bigger company, quoted $330 for mobile service, $300 for store visit.

My insurance is $500. I didn't use it.

Geico w/ full glass insurance wouldn't held you accountable for any deductible. I did my windshield w/ safelite since they are affiliated with geico and didn't had to pay anything.
