Just got a 09 G37X Sedan

Hello Everyone, I just purchase a G37X in Northern NJ from a Hyundai dealership. Just want to share the news and see how you guys think of this deal.

The 2009 G37X comes with the Premium Package and 24000 mileage. The exterior color is graphite shadow (metallic grey ?). The exterior body is in very great shape. The transmission had a issue with downshifting which was fixed by a local Infiniti dealer for free. The interior is Graphite Leather / Silk Obi Aluminum. The dealer also put 4 new tires included the price.

So the OTD price : 26800, 4.23% for 60 months

Price of the car (24319) + Security Window Etch (199) + Tax (1716) + Reg Fee (161.50) + Documentary Fee (400)

The car has 11 month/36121 warranty and 35 months / 46121 Drivetrain Warranty.

1. What do you think of the deal ? The salesman kept telling me that I "stole" the car from them.

2. Should I go synthetic ? What's benefit of it ? Would it last longer ?

3. Any trick that I should know about the car ? or any suggested mod ?

Thanks for all the answers/suggestion in advance, I will post some pictures when I tinted the windows.

1. I think you got a good deal. You didn't "steal" it from them. Its a good price for the amount of miles that are on the car. I see G's go for about $26,000 with about 30,000 miles on them with the nav and premium packages.

2. Use whatever the manual suggests

3. A lot of people suggest sways as a first mod. It helps improve handling and isn't too expensive. I would do it, except finances are a little tight right now. I would also upgrade the exhaust, I think that Infiniti has the best sounding V6 on the market, but the sound produced by our sedans doesn't do it justice. Just search around and see what other people have done and look at pictures and see what you like and do it!

Welcome to the forums and enjoy the car!

1. I just purchased an '09 G37 Sedan with premium package, navigation and tech package. Has 32,000 miles and purchased certified so warranty is 7 years / 100,000 from date of first purchase. I got the car for $27,200 which I think is a good deal, especially in so. cal where everything is jacked up. I think you got a pretty good deal too especially since yours in all wheel drive. Dealer would never let you "steal" one from them. Trust me, they made money off you just like my dealer made money off me.

2. On my last car, '08 Altima Hybrid, I used synthetic and I didn't see any real benefits but it was really expensive. On this one, I'm going to use standard oil which I believe is fine. Do you plan on changing oil every 3,750 (book) or 5,000?

3. Lots of features on the car. I plan on spending time reading the manual.

Enjoy your new car.

I also just purchased a 2009 G37x Sedan. Blue slate w/ Black interior, Premium Package, no nav. Price was $26k, odometer 20,800. Exterior and interior are in pristine shape. Traded in the 05 G35x with 62k miles for $10,500.
Very excited to see what I can do to this thing

I'd go synthetic 5-30 change it every 5k miles w/ a quality filter like K&N or Mobil-1. The synthetic isn't really expensive IMO since it does provide better lubrication and extends your oil change interval. It's about the cheapest thing you'll do to your car, why cut 10 bucks off 3x a year?
Just stock up for a few oil changes when O'Reillys, Wallmart , PepBoys etc have their 5 qt jugs on sale, sometimes they'll even include a better oil filter for one low price. It's your car so do what you want, but oil really isn't the best place to cut corners IMO. I like Pennzoil Platinum FWIW.
BTW, sounds like a great car, and welcome to the site!

Thanks guys for all the replies !!

I think I got a good deal, but definitely can be better (maybe another 1K off). It wasn't fun to deal with these sales person/finance manager. I just wished the process could be a lot smoother and stress free. The only regret is that it doesn't come with backup camera which comes handy when I park in places like NYC.

A dumb question for synthetic oil. I would only do it if I buy my own oil and bring it to the local mechanic shop. Would it affect the remaining warranty since its not done in the dealership ? I asked since my ex-coworker's G35 had oil consumption issue, the dealer actually replaced the engine for free (I think, it was years ago). Just want to be sure I am not doing anything dumb on maintaining the car properly.

Thanks guys again !!! The car is AWESOME !!!!! Can't believe I waited all these to actually own one !!! Definitely a sweet ride IMHO =)

All finance managers are a pain. Mine asked me over 10 times if I wanted to purchase a protection plan and I said no thank you. Then another option, 10 times. I politely declined but she kept getting more frustrated and rude with each offer. It seems like their life in on the line to sell these packages.

The backup camera is good but the novelty wears out after a little. I don't think it's necessary and I live in la. I would call infiniti consumer affairs at 1-800-662-6200 to find more details about the warranty. make sure you document who you spoke with and what information they gave you. i put in synthetic oil in my '08 altima hybrid at first because it was recommended but it became a hassle and expensive. i called nissan consumer affairs and they said reg. oil was fine and i documented it and made sure they did too. never had any problems with standard oil.
